Who doesn't love a cozy British mystery? Whether it's The Thursday Murder Club proving age is just a number or the countless seasons of arguably British TV's best-loved crime procedural, Midsomer Murders, audiences across the world can't get enough of the solving of criminal puzzles against the backdrop of the gorgeous British countryside. Among the many fan-favorite examples regularly proving popular on the streaming charts, one of the best is The Marlow Murder Club.

Denis Villeneuve'sJames Bond is still years away from hitting the big screen, but fans may have already found their next 007. With the franchise's 26th film expected in 2028, debate continues over who should inherit the iconic role, with names such as Jacob Elordi, Damson Idris, Callum Turner, Henry Cavill, Theo James, and even Tom Hollandfrequently mentioned. Amid the ongoing speculation, IO Interactive took the unexpected step of casting Patrick Gibson as Bond in the latest franchise entry.

The endurance of Ian Fleming's iconic British spy in cinema (25 films across six decades, with no real dip in relevance ever) in simply unmatched and unrivaled. James Bond's presence in video games dates back further than you might realize, with his first licensed appearance on Atari systems in 1983, but we all know that Bond in gaming has been all but synonymous with GoldenEye 007 for just shy of 30 years. That said, 007 is having a major, perhaps watershed moment in the medium right now, with the release of Hitman developer IO Interactive's universally acclaimed story-driven triple-A title, 007 First Light.

It's a strange time for British media favorites. As the world prepares for a new, live-action Harry Potter series, with HBO's adaptation of all seven novels debuting this Christmas, two of the country's other major IPs are currently without a star. It was announced last week that Doctor Who, following a turbulent partnership with Disney that ended in controversy, was being put out to tender, as any immediate future for the franchise was officially cancelled.

When the management at Prime Video changed some months ago, one of the first orders of business was to halt production on the Citadelspin-offs. Two had already been produced and released as part of an ambitious plan to start a shared universe, a plan that will likely go down in history as one of the biggest swings and misses of the streaming era. The latest Nielsen report for streaming and linear television is in, and things aren't looking good for the "mothership" Citadel series. The latest report tracks viewership in the week of May 4 to May 10, during which The Boys claimed the number two spot behind La Brea with more than 1 billion minutes watched. The Boys had been struggling to compete against HBO Max's The Pittfor the last few weeks, but it seems to have picked up the pace ahead of its finale. Remember, the Nielsen report, especially for streaming, is delayed by roughly a month.

2026 is set to be a huge year for Christopher Nolan, who will return to the director’s chair for what may be the most ambitious movie of his career. Nolan spent most of 2025 working on The Odyssey, the new historical epic based on Homer’s work featuring one of the most star-studded casts ever assembled. Starring in the lead roles of Odysseus and his son Telemachus in The Odyssey are Matt Damon and Tom Holland, who are already being eyed as potential Oscar contenders at the 2027 Academy Awards. Over the last 15 years, Christopher Nolan has become one of the most important and established filmmakers in Hollywood history, but not every one of his films has been a certified hit. His last film, Oppenheimer, was viewed as his magnum opus, but before that came the most polarizing release of his career.

The James Bond pre-title sequences came a long way from the early days of Sir Sean Connery through the 70s with Sir Roger Moore and into the 80s with Timothy Dalton. Each movie would try to outdo the previous film's opening scene, ramping up the action, stunts and humor in exotic locations around the world.

Badenoch said, after the murder of Stephen Lawrence, it was right that people wanted to ensure this did not happen again.
It led to the Macpherson report, she said.
[It] wanted to put right what went wrong with policing in the 1990s.
However, in attempting to do so, it also enshrined a principle which I believe is wrong that a racist incident is racist if it is perceived as racist by the victim or any other person.
Equality law, properly designed, should protect us all in the same way. It should be a shield, not a sword.
It should protect people from discrimination. It should protect people from being treated differently because of their race, sex, religion, sexuality, disability or age.
