Humanoid Typhoon to hit Shibuya and Namba this July.

Trigun Stargaze, the sequel series to Trigun Stampede, was released earlier this year, and while there’s fun to be had in the CG-reimagining of the adventures of Vash the Stampede, for many fans there’s just no substitute for the original hand-drawn Trigun manga and 1998 anime TV series.

So now there’s a Trigun Legacy Cafe coming to Tokyo and Osaka.

Hosted by Chugai Grace Cafe, a themed restaurant subdivision of department store Marui, the cafe will be saluting Trigun and Trigun Maximum, the renamed-for-publishing-purposes extension of the manga by creator Yasuhiro Nightow. Though it’s simultaneously opening in both Tokyo’s Shibuya and Osaka’s Namba neighborhoods, the two Trigun Cafes will have slightly different menus. The image above shows the lineup for the Tokyo branch, and below is the selection for Osaka.

There’s some overlap between the two. For example, you can get Vash and Wolfwood β€œvisual mocktails” at either branch…

…and the same goes for the $$30 Million Donuts, Smokey Black Forrest Parfait, and Plant-inspired Twins Birthday drink, which comes with an art card and gives you the bulb-like container to take home.

However, the Opening Animation Salmon Sandwich and Bride beverage are exclusive to the Tokyo branch.

The Tokyo branch has regular restaurant seating, while the Osaka branch is takeout-only. However, you won’t want to breeze through too quickly, since both cafes will also have attached merch shops with items like pin badges, acrylic art bocks, and polaroid snapshot-style art cards.

If you’re looking for something practical, the shops will also have calendars, key chains, and tote bags.

Once again, the lineup is a little more extensive in Tokyo, though, as only the Tokyo branch will have plastic mini posters, IC card stickers sized to go over Suica and other rail pass cards, and β€œart cookies.”

And of course, this being a Japanese anime cafe, customers will also get illustrated coasters for ordering food and drink items from the menu, with separate sets available for the first and second half of the cafe’s run.

The Trigun Legacy Cafe will be open from July 3 to 26 at the Chugai Grace Cafes in Tokyo’s Shibuya Modi and Osaka’s Namba Marui buildings.

INGLEWOOD (California), June 13 β€” The United States dominated Paraguay 4–1 in their opening match of the World Cup on Friday in Los Angeles, with a first-half brace by striker Folarin Balogun setting up a dream start to their home campaign in Group D.

The US broke through Paraguay’s vaunted defence in the seventh minute when Christian Pulisic deftly split two players and found Weston McKennie, whose cross was turned into the net by Damian Bobadilla for an own goal.

Shortly after the first-half hydration break, Pulisic raced up the left flank and delivered a precise cross to Balogun, who finished past goalkeeper Orlando Gill to make it 2–0.

Balogun struck again just before halftime, controlling a long pass, shrugging off a sliding defender and firing a left-footed shot into the top corner to complete a dominant opening half for the home side.

Pulisic was surprisingly substituted at the start of the second half, with the team saying coach Mauricio Pochettino would address the decision after the match.

Paraguay showed more urgency after the break and pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute through substitute Mauricio, who capitalised on a defensive lapse by the US.

However, the Americans remained in control and Gio Reyna added a fourth in the closing stages, curling a finish from the edge of the box with the outside of his right foot.

High-profile spectators

Played under Los Angeles Stadium’s massive semi-translucent roof, the match drew a star-studded crowd including Tom Cruise and David Beckham, who had been honoured earlier in the day with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Despite pre-tournament concerns over ticket prices, Los Angeles Stadium β€” home to the NFL’s Rams and Chargers, set to host next year’s Super Bowl and configured for a World Cup capacity of 70,492 β€” was sold out.

The US entered the tournament aiming to improve on their last-16 exit in Qatar, while Paraguay arrived after a demanding Conmebol qualifying campaign for their first World Cup appearance since 2010.

The match, the first men’s World Cup game on US soil in 32 years, featured a pregame performance by singer Katy Perry and a parade of nations, during which some boos were heard when Iran’s flag was carried into the stadium. Iran play their first match in Los Angeles on Monday.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio attended alongside Paraguay President Santiago PeΓ±a and Fifa President Gianni Infantino.

The US face Australia on June 19 in Seattle, while Paraguay travel to San Francisco to meet Turkey. β€” Reuters

DUNGUN, June 8 β€” A man who was injured in his leg while climbing Gunung Chemerong near Pasir Raja Forest Reserve here was rescued by firefighters in an operation today.

Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) deputy director, Senior Fire Superintendent I, Shahrin Yusmar Mat Yusof said his department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 1.21pm yesterday before six firefighters were rushed to the location to carry out the rescue operation.

He said the climbing activity was attended by 27 participants, including eight women from the Teachers and Staff Club of SMK Puncak Alam 3, Selangor, as well as four mountain guides.

He said that when the report was received, the participants were at the Sungai Bangan Waterfall area on Mount Chemerong and the victim was in stable condition.

β€œThe 48-year-old male participant suffered a leg injury and was unable to walk due to fatigue from climbing so he had to ask for help from the fire department to be taken out of the mountain,” he said when contacted today.

Shahrin Yusmar said the distance to the location from the foot of the mountain was seven kilometres and it took six hours to reach the location.

β€œThe victim was successfully taken out and safely arrived at the Fire Control Post (PKB) at the foothill of Mount Chemerong at 11.55 am this morning and was handed over to the medical team for further action,” he said.

Shahrin Yusmar said the rescue operation faced difficulties due to the rainy weather and the mountainous terrain which is winding and steep. β€” Bernama

Gun found in Japanese convenience store restroom, traced to forgetful on-duty cop

A public restroom stall shock that had nothing to do with cleanliness.

Whether you’re looking for a PokΓ©mon frappe, chocolate chip sandwich, or surprisingly high-quality T-shirt, Japan’s convenience stores have got you covered. As a matter of fact, it can start to become easy to become desensitized to the very wide variety of things you can find in a Japanese convenience store, but earlier this month a customer at one in the town of Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture came across something that still managed to shock him, as the late-night shopper found a gun inside the shop.

Firearm ownership is heavily regulated in Japan, however, so the gun wasn’t something the store was selling, and it wasn’t out on the shelves between the boxes of Pocky and packs of melon bread either. Instead, the customer, who was at the store at around 12:35 a.m. on June 3, found the gun in the store’s bathroom. After he stepped into a stall, he noticed a belt hanging from a hook ordinarily meant for bags or coats. Attached to the belt was a holster, and inside the holster was a pistol.

We’ve often discussed how life in Japan isn’t like anime, but reality here is also very different from video games, and you generally won’t find weapons just lying about in real-life Japan like it’s an RPG. An odd exception, though, is bathrooms, which periodically turn into unintended armories when police officers use them and forget to take their guns with them once they’re done doing their bathroom business. That’s what happened in this case as well, with the firearm being traced back to a police officer with the Yamaguchi Prefectural Police who was on duty that night and had stopped by the convenience store roughly 40 minutes before the customer found his gun.

The customer informed the store staff about the forgotten weapon, and the store then contacted the policer to report its discovery. The officer has admitted to accidentally leaving his weapon behind, and the Yamaguchi police have pledged to reassert to all officers the importance of making sure they haven’t left their gun behind and unaccounted for when moving from one location to another.

In addition to convenience stores, in recent years there have also been incidents of officers accidentally leaving weapons behind at a restroom in an airport and even one within a police station.

Until recently, most police departments prohibited officers from making use of convenience stores while on duty and in uniform. With such regulations being eased, though, the frequency with which police firearms are brought into stores will likely continue to increase, so hopefully officers will remember to take them back out too.
