JOHOR BAHRU, June 9 β€” Police have arrested the mother of a girl who died and her brother who was seriously injured after the children are believed to have fallen from the 12th floor of an apartment in Tampoi on Monday.Β

Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said based on information, a police team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Johor Bahru North district police headquarters arrested the 37-year-old foreign woman in the Tampoi area at noon on the same day.

β€œA check found that the suspect did not have any previous criminal record and the results of the initial urine screening test conducted were also found to be negative,” he said in a statement yesterday

Ab Rahaman said an application for remand on the suspect under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code had been applied for and approved for four days, starting today.

He said several witnesses at the scene were also called to record their statements to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which is child abuse, neglect, abandonment or exposure.

β€œThe real cause and motive of the incident are still under investigation and we believe that the arrest of the victim’s mother will unravel the real cause of the incident,” he said.

At the same time, he called on the public to give the police space to conduct a thorough investigation and not make any speculation that could disrupt the investigation process.

Earlier, Johor Bahru North district police chief ACP Radin Ramlan Radin Taha was reported to have said that the eight-year-old victim was found on the seventh floor of the apartment block at 7.59 am, followed by her 10-year-old brother a minute later.

The incident also went viral on the Threads platform after being uploaded by members of the public who were around the swimming pool near the location of the incident. β€” Bernama

A scattered collage of vintage Polaroid photos shows women posing with a car, a Polaroid camera, and close-ups of tires with photos on them. The images have a faded, retro appearance.

Regensburg is one of the most impressive medieval cities of Europe. Almost every house here still dates to the Middle Ages, and many of its rich patrician houses reach 5 to 7 floors high, with a defensive tower (and they were not even royal palaces)! The city centre is large, full of charming alleys and pastel colours. The town has very well preserved all the essential civic medieval buildings that gave it pride back then, such as a town hall (Rathaus), city gates and walls, a mint, guild halls for trade, and not to mention the splendid Regensburg Dom, and the many Gothic and Romanesque churches spread around town. Regensburg was already founded as a Roman colony during the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius in 179AD, and its Roman history lend it a prestige in the Middle Ages to become one of the most important cities of the German Holy Roman Empire. Combined with its excellent location at the Danube and on trade routes between Italy in the South, eastern Europe through the Danube, and the North (thanks to its 12th-century bridge!), and its banking history and all the privileges endowed on it by the German emperors, Regensburg developed a medieval splendour rarely seen in other cities above the Alps. Today, its lively student population ensures that it continues to be a vibrant town in the modern period as well, rather than just being a time capsule.

Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung quits PKR leadership, says party β€˜no longer’ what it was

12 June 2026 at 02:49

Malay Mail

KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 β€” Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung has stepped down from PKR’s central leadership council after 18 years in the party, citing concerns over its direction and internal decision-making.

Lee, however, said he will remain a PKR member and continue serving as an MP until Parliament is dissolved.

β€œPKR today is no longer the PKR I once knew,” he said in a Facebook post today announcing his decision.

He said he could no longer continue in the party leadership, adding that he would instead focus on his duties as a backbench MP.

Lee also said he would continue to carry out his parliamentary role, including supporting institutional reform bills expected to be tabled in June.

In his post, he said he was seeking clarification from the party over recent administrative issues affecting constituency work and public programmes, but said no official explanation had been provided.

Lee said the developments had left him unable to continue working with the current leadership structure.

He stressed that he would remain committed to parliamentary oversight and reform efforts, including proposals on term limits for the prime minister, separation of powers for the Attorney General, and a Freedom of Information law.

The city reflects well the massive wealth of the Bavarian nobility over the centuries. Although not captured here, I also loved the extensive neighbourhoods immediately surrounding Munich's Altstadt, with its many trendy cafes, great restaurants, and young people, as well as beautiful, lively parks such as the English Garden.
