TAPAH, June 8 — Female climber Jaslinda Saludin has lost almost 10 kilogrammes after being missing for 14 days while climbing Gunung Batu Putih.
Tapah Hospital director Dr Wan Immi Salim however said that Jaslinda, 49, was in very stable condition and was able to eat and communicate very well.
“Her leg was in cast due to the injuries suffered but God willing she will recover quickly with rehabilitation and treatment,” she said when met by reporters at Tapah Hospital here today.
Earlier, Dr Wan Immi accompanied Perak Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs and National Integration Committee chairman Datuk A. Sivanesan and state Communications, Multimedia and NGO Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi to visit Jaslinda at the hospital.
In addition, she said that examinations found that the victim had several injuries to her body as a result of being in the forest for a long period of time and it is expected that she will be allowed to return home in the near future.
Asked about the emotional state of the victim, Dr Wan Immi said Jaslinda showed high spirits and a positive attitude throughout receiving treatment and that this was the main factor that helped the victim recover quickly.
Meanwhile, Mohd Azlan shared that Jaslinda had informed that she wanted to recover quickly and be discharged from the hospital because she wanted to return to work and attend her son’s convocation ceremony later.
“I saw that although there was a slight injury to her leg, I am confident that in a few days she will be able to go out and continue her life as usual,” he said.
Last Saturday, Jaslinda was found in a weak condition near Kampung Lubuk Gaharu, Pos Musoh at about 5pm by several Orang Asli residents.
The woman was reported missing while participating in the Trans Spencer Chapman hike on May 23 via the Pos Gedung-Gunung Bah Gading-Gunung Batu Putih-Kuala Woh route together with 13 individuals and two forestry mountain guides. — Bernama

Hong Kong’s Hospital Authority has suspended a trainee doctor and a resident physician after their alleged professional misconduct went viral on social media.

In a statement issued on Wednesday evening, the HA said that it had noticed some social media posts discussing an intern doctor’s alleged professional misconduct at different hospitals.
“The HA considers the matter extremely serious, affecting the professional image of healthcare staff,” the statement said.
The authority said it had reported to the police the suspected case of “someone who logged into the Clinical Management System at Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) with another person’s account and accessed patient records at Tuen Mun Hospital without authorisation.”

“The HA has immediately suspended the clinical duties of the intern doctor concerned and a resident doctor at Tuen Mun Hospital, and has also suspended their access right[s] to the system in order to protect patient and system security,” it said.
“The HA has notified the medical school of the relevant university to follow up on the intern doctor’s assessment of being fit for practice.”
According to the statement, before the suspensions, the HA had previously issued a serious warning to the trainee doctor for committing an inappropriate act during an internship at Ruttonjee Hospital and taken disciplinary action against the intern doctor and another resident doctor at CMC.
It had also taken disciplinary action against the intern doctor and another resident doctor for misconduct at CMC.
The HA’s move comes after a trainee doctor, who published videos documenting her medical internship, allegedly used medical equipment without authorisation to X-ray her own knee and posted a photo of the procedure on social media.
She was also suspected of asking her boyfriend, a resident doctor at Tuen Mun Hospital, to come to Ruttonjee Hospital, where she was interning, to assist her with a medical procedure.

According to netizens, the intern doctor is a social media influencer known as Angel the Medic on YouTube and Instagram.
As of Thursday, all videos on the YouTube channel had disappeared, and the Instagram account had gone offline.
When a video game is successful, the next natural step is for it to get DLC and a sequel after that. This has happened for some of the biggest game franchises, such as BioShock and Resident Evil. However, it isn't always smart to double-dip, with some video game sequels turning into disasters that ruined the legacy of the first, such as Duke Nukem. But other times, fans are blessed with an improvement over something they didn't know could be improved.

MELAKA, June 13 — A total of 1,318 women aged 40 to 70 across the state have undergone free mammogram screenings this year under the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) Mammogram Subsidy programme.
State Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman Datuk Kalsom Noordin said that the breast cancer screening programme remains open to women within this age group, with a target of 1,800 women undergoing the test this year.
She said the screenings can be carried out at three private hospitals in the state: Putra Specialist Hospital Melaka, Pantai Hospital, Ayer Keroh, and Mahkota Medical Centre.
“Eligible and interested participants who wish to undergo the mammogram screening may visit the LPPKN Melaka Nur Sejahtera Clinic or attend the clinic’s outreach programmes to register and obtain an appointment date at the participating hospitals.
“So far, we have seen a very encouraging response from women in Melaka towards undergoing mammogram screening through this initiative, compared to previous years. This clearly shows that awareness of the importance of such screenings has increased significantly among women,” she told reporters here last night.
She said this after the opening of the Festival Malam Kita 2026 @ KafeTEEN Melaka, which was officiated by LPPKN director-general Datuk Abdul Shukur Abdullah and attended by state LPPKN director Suszma Khairitszi Mamat.
Kalsom said the target group should fully utilise the free mammogram screening as part of efforts to detect breast cancer at an early stage, in line with the Women’s Reproductive Cancer Awareness Campaign actively implemented by the government through LPPKN.
She added that the subsidy also helps ease the financial burden on women seeking screening.
“Therefore, we encourage all eligible women to undergo mammogram screening as soon as possible, as there are still places available under the programme’s quota,” she said. — Bernama
