Apple TV is quietly having one of the biggest years in the streamer’s history, with new projects across the board in various genres taking the world by storm. The most popular show on Apple TV at the time of writing is Your Friends & Neighbors, which stars Jon Hamm. Apple TV has already picked up the series for Season 3, and it’s all but guaranteed that it will be back for more episodes sometime next year. The biggest movie on Apple TV right now is F1, the Brad Pitt-led racing blockbuster that’s now spent nearly six months at the top of streaming charts. Apple TV has become known for its dedicated work in the sci-fi genre with shows like Severance and Pluribus, but the streaming service has expanded enough to have hits sure to please fans of all preferences.

2026 has been a strong year for Taylor Sheridan, but fans of the Western writer have come to expect this by now. Sheridan kicked things off in 2026 with the Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, which follows Kayce Dutton (played by Luke Grimes) now that he’s left ranch life behind to become a U.S. Marshal. After the debut of Marshals came The Madison, which features big-time talent like Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer. Sheridan recently brought fans back to the Yellowstone universe for the latest spin-off, Dutton Ranch, which follows Rip (played by Cole Hauser) and Beth (played by Kelly Reilly) after the events of the series finale. Sheridan has had plenty going on so far this year, but things are only going to get busier for the Yellowstone creator as we inch closer to the end of the year.

Disney isn't shy about rearranging the furniture especially when they deal with their streaming platforms. After all, this is the company that's dealt with — so far — Disney+, Hulu, Star, ESPN, bundles, hubs, even an ever so subtle color change on the Disney+ logo. But it's also now wiped out one brand in favor of another, even if it might well be replacing that soon too.

Netflix decided to zero in on the original Chugong web novel almost a year ago, which went on to become one of the biggest Korean fantasy-action exports of the last decade. One particularly beloved character, LL COOL J's agent Sam Hanna, is even set to rejoin the family in a more permanent capacity with the premiere of the new NCIS: New York this fall.

2026 is a huge year for Spider-Man fans. Not only is Spider-Man: Brand New Day hitting theaters next month, but a brand-new series has launched on streaming platforms and is already a hit. This new Spider-Man show steers away from the traditional story, following a different kind of friendly neighborhood superhero. One that has more in common with detectives like Bosch than it does other Marvel superheroes.

HBO has released plenty of shows from various genres over the last few years, but few have become as popular as The White Lotus. The critically acclaimed HBO drama show didn’t even need a full season under its belt to accrue some big-time stars — Season 1 features performances from Sydney Sweeney, Alexandra Daddario, Murray Bartlett, and Steve Zahn. The White Lotus has become so popular that HBO has since released two new seasons of the show following the conclusion of Season 1, and a fourth is already confirmed to be on the way. Writer/director/producer Mike White has confirmed that he is shooting The White Lotus in France right now, and while an official release date has not been set, all signs point to it airing before the end of 2027.

It’s no secret that Netflix has had a huge year in 2026, and one of the first massive projects to emerge from the shadows for the streamer was War Machine. The sci-fi epic stars Reacher veteran Alan Ritchson, and after earning over 125 million views during its first month on streaming, Netflix has already announced that a sequel to the film is officially in the early stages of development. This demand for more sci-fi content coming from Netflix subscribers started with the finale season of Stranger Things — Season 5 began airing last November, and it concluded over three parts, with the final episode arriving on Netflix and in theaters on New Year’s Day. It didn’t take long for Stranger Things to come back and assert its dominance over Netflix streaming charts, though, with the first animated spin-off, Tales From ‘85.

If you grew up watching Disney Channel, Disney XD, or any other younger-skewing shows under the wider Disney banner, then you were likely watching the productions of Disney Channels Worldwide, ABC Cable Networks Group, or whatever name the Mouse House's cable division was under at the time. No matter the title, the mission has remained the same — to provide content made for younger audiences and families, from animated shows like Duck Tales and Phineas & Ferb to live-action favorites like Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place. In 2020, with Disney merged with 20th Century Fox, the operation shifted under the all-encompassing banner of Disney Branded Television, headed by Disney Channel veteran Gary Marsh, which would handle similar duties across an even wider range with streaming becoming a big part of the formula.

Former Matlockwriter John Lowe has filed a lawsuit against CBS Television Studios, accusing showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman and executive producers Nicki Renna and Jeffery Lieber of creating a hostile work environment and failing to prevent harassment. The lawsuit alleges that those in power directed disparaging sexual and racist comments at Lowe and other Black cast and crew members, according to THR. The lawsuit was filed today in California state court.

Sherlock Holmes has been portrayed in just about any way imaginable these days. It's fair to say you've watched a Sherlock story and spotted something before he has, too. There's been a whole host of Sherlocks over the years since the character first emerged. Serious Sherlocks, eccentric ones, extremely rude ones, young ones, extremely old ones, garden gnomes, you name it. Sherlock's appeal is evergreen, and now, his story looks set to be retold in new-to-screen adventures in an animated series from Harry King Television and Shrek producer David Lipman.
