Why no one can afford for the Strait of Hormuz to still be closed by the summer
One of Japan’s major television networks broadcast the arrival of a tanker full of oil from the United States last weekend. These images, which at any other time would be considered anecdotal in a country that receives many such vessels every week, have become front-page news. Without crude oil from the Persian Gulf, which is subject to a double blockade—by Tehran and Washington—Japan’s refineries are beginning to run dry.
