A great ending is one thing, and plenty of horror movies have great endings. Some of the movies mentioned below also have great endings, but the focus here is on how those endings themselves end. The focus is on the very last shot you see before the end credits begin, or before the movie reads “The End,” if it’s an older horror film (from a time in cinema history when opening credits, rather than end credits, were the norm).

The "so-bad-it 's-good" film is trickier to pull off than one might think. If it’s too bad, it gets tired quickly and isn’t fun, like 2010s Birdemic: Shock and Terror (although that film has its champions). If the intent was to make a bad film but it turned out better than expected, or it looks fantastic but sucks anyway, it becomes a "bad good" film. Take Spider-Man 3, for example: it looks great, the effects are good, and it has the same creative team, yet it still fails.
