As a new chapter in his career begins, Johnny Depp is looking to win back some fans by returning to his best-loved role. In the upcoming sixth film in Disney’s blockbuster franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp looks set to return to his most iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow, although it is still unclear whether he will be joined by fellow franchise favorites such as Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. Although his place in the film isn't yet confirmed, franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer did previously hint that a role for Depp's Sparrow might already be in the script.

Around the second half of December 2024, Kyiv’s intelligence services reported that a Russian ship was damaged and stranded in the Mediterranean. It had suffered, they claimed, an engine problem. The GUR, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense’s spy agency, identified the vessel as the Sparta. According to Kyiv’s version at the time, it was en route to Syria to transport military equipment. Ukraine never claimed responsibility for any sabotage that might have damaged the enemy vessel. On December 23, 2024, the cargo ship, renamed Ursa Major — although until 2021 it bore the name Sparta on its hull, a long-standing family of Russian ships — sunk to a depth of 2,500 meters off the coasts of Algeria and Spain.

KUALA TERENGGANU, June 12 — A 37-year-old housewife lost RM95,715 after falling victim to an online job scam that promised easy earnings but delivered only a token RM85 commission, Harian Metro reported today.

Kuala Terengganu police chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor said the victim was first drawn in after seeing a job advertisement on Facebook on May 8.

She then clicked on a link in the advertisement and began communicating with an unknown individual via WhatsApp, where she was offered a part-time job with attractive returns.

The victim agreed and was instructed to join a Telegram group, where she was given simple tasks and initially paid RM85 as “commission”.

Encouraged by the small payout, she proceeded to follow further instructions and carried out seven transactions to seven different bank accounts between May 8 and May 18.

Azli said the victim only received RM85 for the first two tasks before the scam escalated into larger transfers.

He said the victim only realised she had been deceived after communicating with other individuals linked to the scheme.

“The victim also used personal savings jointly owned with her husband,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, punishable with a jail term of between one and 10 years, a fine, and whipping.

“If the prime minister of Spain hasn’t received me, I don’t think he’s inviting President Trump.” With those words, U.S. Ambassador to Spain Benjamín León Jr. complained that he still has not met with Pedro Sánchez once, more than three months after taking up his post. Speaking at an event organized by the debate organization Nueva Economía Fórum in Madrid, León said that the Spanish government has not made any moves to invite the U.S. president.
