Ever sine Jonathan Anderson showed a rounded green frog minaudière in his fall 2026 collection for Dior, fans wondered when the piece will make its red carpet debut. Well, we finally have our answer: the Cannes Film Festival. On Tuesday night, Ruth Negga brought the viral, smile-inducing piece to the red carpet for the event’s opening ceremony, complete with an enchanting look that instantly brought lily pads to mind.

For the occasion, Negga arrived to the festival’s opening ceremony dinner in a sweeping sage green silk gown by Dior. Her floor-length style featured a button-up bodice, accentuated by a plunging neckline overlaid with delicate black lace. Further accentuated by botanical black lace across its hemline, Negga’s slip-style gown created an enchantingly romantic feel. The piece’s greatest statement came from numerous fringed silk strips embroidered with clear sequins, creating a glittering effect as if the actor was dripping in dewdrops.

The actor’s most notable accessory was aforementioned frog clutch, complete with a round silver metal frame inspired by the brand’s revived 1947 Dior Médaillon motif. Overall, her other accessories—including a Chopard diamond necklace and mirrored silver platform sandals—went for a more “quality over quantity” approach.

Negga had previously appeared in a Loewe campaign when Anderson was the Spanish brand’s creative director. Her outing in Dior made her the latest star to have followed him to the French brand, a trajectory that’s also proven true for Greta Lee, Josh O’Connor, and Harris Dickinson, who had all championed Anderson’s work at Loewe. They, like any Anderson fan, know the man loves a whimsical touch. He’s previously unleashed the meme-inspired Loewe tomato and J.W. Anderson pigeon bags into the world. An adorable Dior hedgehog clutch has also already gone viral, thanks to his Instagram. As for what Anderson will cook up next at the French label? We’re keeping our eyes peeled on the Cannes red carpet—and on LACMA, which will host Dior’s Cruise 2027 show today.

Negga’s gleaming Cannes moment marked the first of many for the actress this week. As a member of this year’s festival jury, Negga will spend 12 days viewing the festival’s various films—and deciding its 2026 winners—with fellow jury members Demi Moore, Chloé Zhao, Park Chan-wook, Laura Wandel, Diego Céspedes, Stellan Skarsgård, Isaach De Bankolé, and Paul Laverty. With a romantically gothic style streak that’s ranged from 3D gold Prada florals to enchanting Valentino lace dresses, she undoubtedly has plenty of fashionable looks in store for the occasion.

It is quite the honor to get tapped as a member of the Cannes Film Festival jury. It signals the respect from one's cineam peers and trust in their taste. Members pick the festival’s winner, after all. But there is a lot of pressure on the jury, not only to choose deserving honorees, but also to show up to every red carpet and photocall looking worthy of the appointment. Throughout the festival, a jury member may attend dozens of events—often two or three in just one day—and they need a new and appropriate look for each one. Not everyone is up for such a task, but when Demi Moore was appointed to the 2026 Cannes jury, there was no question that she could handle it.

Moore and her long-time stylist Brad Goreski have been taking us on a nonstop sartorial journey since the festival kicked off earlier this month. Starting with a playful Jacquemus number, Moore has brought glamour, sophistication, and a touch of camp with a wide array of ensembles. Truly, who would expect her to follow up a sparkling Tamara Ralph dress with that pink Matières Fécales number? Absolutely no one. And something tells us Moore has more in store as the festival continues. Below, a look at all of her ensembles thus far.

Moore attended the Chopard Miracle Gala on May 18 in a Nina Ricci look featuring the unexpected combination of a suit jacket and voluminous, tulle-layered skirt.

On May 16, Mariacarla Boscono wore this fur Gucci top down the runway in New York during Demna’s resort 2027 show. Two days later, the top was on Moore at the Fjord premiere in the South of France.

Moore has been wearing a lot of Chopard jewels throughout the festival, which is fitting considering the luxury brand is a sponsor of the event. But when the actor attended the Kering Women in Motion Awards on May 17, she swapped out her regular gems for a Boucheron necklace, an especially striking piece that stood out against her purple, croc leather Gucci dress.

The actor looked very chic in an all-white look from Ami Paris with a Tod’s handbag, which she wore to the Ami Paris luncheon on May 17.

While for the most part, Moore has been bringing some classic red carpet glamour to Cannes, she decided to mix things up a bit for the Paper Tiger premiere on May 18. The actor arrived to the screening in a campy, hot pink Matières Fécales fall 2026 dress with a shredded hem and comically large bow.

As if the crystal-covered Tamara Ralph spring 2026 couture dress Moore wore to the Trophée Chopard dinner on May 15 wasn’t glamorous enough, the actor paired it with a gorgeous, ostrich feather shawl. Of course, she completed the look with Chopard jewelry.

Moore’s Cannes luggage was packed with custom Gucci. The actor wore the brand once again to the Fatherland premiere on May 14.

The actor took a break from colorful gowns and wore a black tailored look from Magda Butrym, featuring knee-length bottoms and a peplum jacket, to the Nespresso x Brut party on May 14.

Moore attended the Red Sea Film Foundation’s Women in Cinema Gala on May 14 in a purple sequin halter-neck gown from Ashi Studio.

The actor wore yet another custom Gucci look to the La Vie D'Une Femme premiere on May 13. The piece was inspired by a Gucci by Tom Ford spring 2003 mini dress Moore wore to the Matrix Reloaded premiere a top a pair of jeans.

By day two of the festival, it became clear that we were in for quite the fashion spectacle courtesy of Moore. The actor attended the jury photocall on May 12 in a colorful, polka-dotted Jacquemus fall 2026 dress.

Cate Blanchett’s Backless Cannes Gown Is a Painting Come to Life

Nobody can deliver a thoughtful, artistic fashion statement on the red carpet quite like Cate Blanchett. For her latest outing at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the fashion-forward star continued that approach in blooming style thanks to Sarah Burton’s Givenchy.

At the festival’s Sunday premiere for Garance, Blanchett swished into the Palais des Festivals in an intricate gown from the French brand’s fall 2026 collection. Her backless style included a lightly wrapped neckline with a formal floor-length hem, all crafted from black silk. Embroidered red, pink, yellow, and blue flowers with swirling, shadowed green stems spread across the front of the piece, complete with subtle sheer paneling for added depth.

Lyvans Boolaky/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

The dress’s intricate flowers were far from your average garden-variety blooms. Burton’s collection took direct inspiration from the Old Masters of European oil painting, with this particular gown echoing the overflowing still life portraits of Dutch artists like Jan Davidsz de Heem and Jan van Huysum. The same ornate florals covered a pair of sleek black leather gloves cinched at each end with a black silk bow, which smoothly matched Blanchett’s gown. However, her look’s most dramatic statement came from the thick layers of swishing color-coordinated fringe, making the flowers appear to be melting onto the red carpet.

That very same detail made the dress go instantly viral earlier this spring, when Mona Tougaard closed Givenchy’s runway in the design at Paris Fashion Week. The style’s intricate details, rich color palette, and experimental use of textures are all hallmarks of Burton’s, cementing her place as one of the most innovative designers to watch today. Blanchett, true to form, proved the perfect star to debut the dress on the red carpet—after all, it was an original work of art.

Mike Marsland/WireImage/Getty Images

However, this wasn’t Blanchett’s only fashionable moment at Cannes. On Saturday, the actor stepped out for the screening of Paper Tiger in a black velvet Louis Vuitton gown. Her custom ensemble, elegantly paired with diamond earrings and pointed black pumps, prominently featured a squared neckline framed with large lacy ruffles. In addition to being a signature of creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, the detail also smartly referenced the costumes worn in the actor’s Oscar-winning portrayal of Queen Elizabeth 1 in 1998’s Elizabeth. Even Blanchett, it seems, isn’t afraid of a self-reference on the red carpet.

Lionel Hahn/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

Blanchett’s arrival at the Cannes Film Festival makes her the latest stylish star to touch down for the cinematic occasion. This year’s event has been a particularly fashionable affair so far through eye-catching outings by jury members Demi Moore and Ruth Negga, as well as guests including Isabelle Huppert, Sandra Hüller, Simone Ashley, and more. With an impressive streak that’s ranged from reworn award show gowns to frothy feathers, zippered leather, and more artistic fringe, Blanchett has delivered plenty of fashion surprises. But there’s no telling what she still has in store for Cannes—one thing is sure, her choices will make a statement.
