JOHOR BAHRU, June 3 — A 22-year-old woman pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here today to a charge of culpable homicide over the death of one of her newborn twin daughters last month.

The accused, Nuran Batrisya Jamaludin, nodded and pleaded guilty after the charge was read out to her before Judge Mohd Zamir Suhaimee.

In a statement issued on Wednesday evening, the HA said that it had noticed some social media posts discussing an intern doctor’s alleged professional misconduct at different hospitals.

“The HA considers the matter extremely serious, affecting the professional image of healthcare staff,” the statement said.

The authority said it had reported to the police the suspected case of “someone who logged into the Clinical Management System at Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) with another person’s account and accessed patient records at Tuen Mun Hospital without authorisation.”

“The HA has notified the medical school of the relevant university to follow up on the intern doctor’s assessment of being fit for practice.”

According to the statement, before the suspensions, the HA had previously issued a serious warning to the trainee doctor for committing an inappropriate act during an internship at Ruttonjee Hospital and taken disciplinary action against the intern doctor and another resident doctor at CMC.

It had also taken disciplinary action against the intern doctor and another resident doctor for misconduct at CMC.

The HA’s move comes after a trainee doctor, who published videos documenting her medical internship, allegedly used medical equipment without authorisation to X-ray her own knee and posted a photo of the procedure on social media.

She was also suspected of asking her boyfriend, a resident doctor at Tuen Mun Hospital, to come to Ruttonjee Hospital, where she was interning, to assist her with a medical procedure.

The couple, known only by their initials YKK and LRQ, appeared at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts on Tuesday morning.

In March, they were charged with “ill-treatment or neglect by those in charge of child or young person” in relation to an incident on September 23 last year, when a No. 8 typhoon signal was in effect due to Super Typhoon Ragasa.

The couple went to watch the waves at a waterfront in Chai Wan with their two children. The mother and their five-year-old son were washed away by waves, and the father jumped in to save them.

The three were rescued by a boat operator and firefighters and were later taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. The mother and son were in a critical condition, local media reported at the time.

The couple’s nine-year-old daughter was not injured.

Magistrate Kestrel Lam ordered the two defendants to sign a bind-over order, an agreement between a court and a defendant to maintain good behaviour for a certain period. It is typically used for minor offences that are unlikely to be repeated, and the defendant is not left with a criminal record.

The bind-over order they signed was for a period of three years and in the sum of HK$2,000, meaning they will be fined HK$2,000 if they commit a similar offence during that time.

Accidental drowning confirmed in condo pool death of three-year-old boy, Singapore coroner says

Malay Mail

SINGAPORE, June 11 — A three-year-old boy died after accidentally falling into a condominium swimming pool while riding a kick scooter under his nanny’s supervision, with a coroner ruling there was no foul play in the case, The Straits Times reported.

Coroner Brenda Chua, releasing findings on June 11, concluded that the child’s death was due to accidental drowning following the incident on March 5, 2025.

According to the report, court proceedings found that the boy had been riding his kick scooter at a condominium playground when he lost control and fell into a 1.2m-deep pool. He did not know how to swim.

At around 6pm, the nanny had brought him to the playground and later admitted she did not have her mobile phone with her as she wanted to fully focus on supervising the child.

However, security footage showed a 46-second gap during which the boy moved towards the pool area unsupervised before falling in while making a turn, the report said.

The nanny was seen sitting briefly during that period before standing up to search for him and later jumping into the pool to rescue him, despite being unable to swim.

Paramedics attempted resuscitation at the scene before the boy was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, The Straits Times reported.

Coroner Chua said the nanny was “not forthcoming” during the inquiry and described her conduct as “one of deflection”, while stressing the importance of close supervision of young children near swimming pools.

The boy’s identity was protected under a gag order, and the condominium and nanny were not named in court.
