KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 β A 25-year-old factory worker has been fined RM2,800 by the Magistratesβ Court in Ayer Keroh in Melaka after pleading guilty to possessing and distributing explicit videos involving her former husband and another woman.
According to The Star, Magistrate Nur Afiqah Radhiah Zainurin imposed the fine after the accused entered a guilty plea.
The charge stated that the woman was found in possession of obscene videos and images stored on a mobile phone.
The offence was committed along Jalan Ayer Keroh Lama in the Melaka Tengah district on January 11.
Based on the facts of the case, the complainant reportedly received a video from her sister in December last year.
The video was sent via a telephone number believed to belong to the former wife of a man known to the complainant.
It allegedly showed the complainant engaged in sexual activity with the accusedβs former husband and was said to have been recorded without her knowledge or consent.
A police report was later lodged by the complainant, who said she was aggrieved by the distribution of the recording.
The charge was framed under Section 292 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to three yearsβ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Nur Alia Safri urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence, saying the offence involved obscene material depicting identifiable individuals and breached both the law and the victimsβ privacy and dignity.
The accused, who was unrepresented, appealed for leniency, telling the court she was emotionally distressed at the time as she had suffered a miscarriage.
The court fined her RM2,800, in default six monthsβ imprisonment.

There havenβt been many television finales as disastrous as that of Game of Thrones, as βThe Iron Throneβ was such a disappointment that it seemingly invalidated all the investment that viewers had staked in the George R.R. Martinadaptation over the course of eight seasons. Although House of the Dragonwas a more well-planned adaptation of another Martin series that benefited from having an ending set in advance, it was far from perfect. It was hard to follow House of the Dragonfor those who didnβt already have a foundational knowledge of the history, mythology, and topography of Westeros, and the series earned a new layer of controversy when Martin himself spoke out against its inaccuracies. It may have seemed like the world of Westeros would be reserved for only a niche group of fans going forward, but A Knight of the Seven Kingdomswas an old-fashioned adventure story that explored a side of the universe that wasnβt dominated by magic, bloodlines, and prophecies.

TAPAH, June 3 β The search and rescue (SAR) operation for missing hiker Jaslinda Saludin, 49, at Gunung Batu Putih here will continue on a smaller scale from tomorrow, led by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).
Tapah district police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said the decision was reached at a SAR coordination meeting chaired by Batang Padang district officer Ahmad Redhauddin this afternoon.
βHowever, police will continue to monitor the situation and carry out further investigations into the victimβs disappearance at Gunung Batu Putih.
βWe will take statements from the 14 individuals who participated in the hiking trip with the victim and anyone with information is urged to come forward and assist police in the search efforts,β he said at a press conference at the Tapah district police headquarters here today.
He said the SAR operation had involved various agencies, including the police, JBPM, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), the Forestry Department, personnel from the 3rd Battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF), Forestry Mountain Guides (MGP), as well as public volunteers.
Abdul Malik said the previous SAR operation, which lasted 11 days, involved a total of 116 personnel.
βSo when we decided to scale down the operation, it will be led by the JBPM under its SAR SOP (standard operating procedure), with the assistance of local residents and NGOs (non-governmental organisations),β he said.
Abdul Malik added that the decision was made after 95 per cent of the Gunung Batu Putih hiking area had been searched during the SAR operation, using various methods deployed by the JBPM in efforts to locate the victim.
β(In addition), five personnel from JBPM and four from the 3rd Battalion of the GOF were injured, which is also one of the factors being taken into account,β he said.
Therefore, he said careful planning was required to avoid wastage of energy and to ensure the safety of rescuers involved in the SAR mission.
Abdul Malik said police probe so far had found no criminal elements in Jaslindaβs disappearance, however 13 individuals who joined the hiking trip were called to have their statements recorded to assist further investigations.
βI understand there has been a lot of talk on social media about Ah Long (loan sharks), but so far our investigation has found no criminal elements in Jaslindaβs disappearance. We are focusing on the search at Gunung Batu Putih,β he said.
He said, with that, the Forward Command Posts for the Gunung Batu Putih SAR operation at Surau At-Taqwa and the Sultan Idris II Power Station in Kuala Woh would be closed today.
Jaslinda was reported to have begun the Trans Spencer Chapman trek at 2am on May 23 with 13 other participants and two MGPs, via the Pos Gedung-Gunung Bah Gading-Gunung Batu Putih-Kuala Woh route.

One thing we're not going to do: we're not going to cold call.
Business expert Matthew Rechs, in his blog post "Making your network work," makes that abundantly clear.
He says you should make lists of people you know, and people you admire, and begin reaching out to them with very personalized messages, thoughtful messages. It's your best shot.
Photo by R.D. Smith on Unsplash
You might do the outreach on LinkedIn, or you might try SMS if you have their phone numbers. There's 2025 data that people significantly respond to - prefer even - SMS over email, especially when it feels personalized, which your outreach would be.
The Introverted Networker agrees that starting with a good list is the way to go, then branching out from there, noting that the "principles of building and maintaining the list remain the same," from an old-school Rolodex to a high-tech CRM of today.
Not everyone will respond but some will. As Rechs says:
Remember that quitting is the only way to fail. All other paths β other habits and practices that put you in touch with people who can support your career and business growth β will eventually lead to success.
Think about it from your own perspective. When you hear from someone you haven't heard from in a while:

FOXBOROUGH, (US), June 14 β A scrappy finish by John McGinn allowed Scotland to mark their return to the World Cup after a 28-year absence with a nervy 1-0 win over outsiders Haiti on Saturday.
Aston Villa captain McGinn fired in with the aid of a deflection just before the half-hour mark at the Gillette Stadium just outside Boston, which was filled to its 64,000 capacity with a majority of Scottish fans.
They have travelled to the United States in large numbers to follow Scotlandβs first World Cup campaign since 1998, and were able to celebrate a rare victory at the tournament as they go top of Group C.
It is Scotlandβs first win at a World Cup since a 2-1 defeat of Sweden in Italy in 1990, and a first victory at any major tournament in 30 years, since Euro 96.
Steve Clarkeβs team are bidding to make history by reaching the knockout stages, something Scotland have never done at the World Cup.
They had to hang on grimly at the end, but the victory puts them on course to get to the last 32, especially as the eight best third-placed sides will go through from the group stage.
Haiti are one of the lowest-ranked sides at the tournament, at 84th in the world, and Scotland knew the importance of beating the Caribbean nation with tougher tests to come.
They play Morocco at the same stadium in their next game on Friday before heading to Miami to take on Brazil. Morocco and Brazil drew 1-1 in Saturdayβs other Group C encounter in New Jersey.
Haitiβs achievement in getting to the World Cup is one of the most inspiring stories of this tournament, given the turmoil in the country which prevented the team playing qualifiers at home.
McTominay hits post
Their line-up included midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and striker Wilson Isidor, both of whom featured regularly in the English Premier League this season.
But there is greater depth in the Scotland side, with the likes of McGinn, skipper Andy Robertson and Scott McTominay.
The Napoli attacking midfielder, scorer of an iconic overhead kick in the decisive win over Denmark which sealed qualification, was fit to start this game after shaking off a stomach bug.
McTominay almost gave a Scotland team playing in salmon pink the lead in the 17th minute, when he arrived at the edge of the area to crash a shot off the post from a Ben Gannon-Doak lay-off.
Haiti were beginning to grow as a threat when Scotland took the lead on 28 minutes.
Che Adams stretched the opposition defence before Gannon-Doakβs ball in fell to McGinn, and his shot found the net via the outstretched leg of Bellegarde.
They were unable to build on that, as Haiti forced them back and stepped up the pressure in the closing stages as they sought to avoid defeat in a World Cup game for the first time.
French-born Ruben Providence was a regular threat on the wing and imposing centre-forward Frantzdy Pierrot almost equalised in the 85th minute, but his towering header went just wide.
Haiti, who lost all three games in their only previous World Cup appearance in 1974, now face Brazil next in Philadelphia. β AFP

The crime genre has always been far and away one of television's most prolific, popular, and acclaimed. After all, it's not just any genre that could be able to produce revolutionary classics of the stature of The Sopranos, The Wire, and Breaking Bad. But even with the genre's outstanding track record, the last five years in particular have represented a bit of a golden age for crime television, with the release of several gems bound to go down in history as some of the genre's best.
