It’s almost impossible to believe it, but it hasn’t even been two full years since HBO Max released the first episode of The Pitt into the world. The critically acclaimed medical drama was the first of its kind for HBO, a studio that had mostly focused on prestige dramas and sci-fi thrillers over the course of its lengthy history. From the start, The Pitt was a massive gamble, but it has more than paid off on its way to becoming one of the most popular HBO shows of all time. The Pitt Season 2 had several weeks with over one billion minutes watched, making it one of the few shows of all time to achieve this feat. It’s been less than two months since The Pitt Season 2 finale, but now we finally have our first huge update regarding Season 3.

In the world of reboots, sequels and live-action remakes, there's something special about seeing a true, original idea hit the small screen. On May 28, 2026, however, that's exactly what Australian actor and comedian Sam Campbell and writer Paddy Young did. On HBO Max, the new comedy series starring Campbell Make That Movie was released, and it's a true comedic treat, and a must-watch for fans of fellow cringe comedy risk-takers like Tim Robinsonand Nathan Fielder.

Though it’s been almost a decade since Game of Thrones wrapped up its phenomenally successful run, the universe it launched has continued, primarily through its acclaimed successor, House of the Dragon. Created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal, the Game of Thrones prequel is the second television series adapted from Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels and is based on the fictional history Fire & Blood, beginning a century after the Targaryen conquest unites the Seven Kingdoms, and chronicling the rise and fall of House Targaryen, from its golden age to a catastrophic civil war called the Dance of the Dragons.

The Pitt was a certified home run for HBO Max the second it premiered on the service, becoming one of both the production company and the streaming platform's biggest hits of all time. Season 2 pulled in even more viewers than the Emmy-sweeping first outing, and for good reason, especially since it introduced even more new characters to the Pittsburgh emergency room that are destined to become new fan-favorites. From the professional-yet-complicated Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) to new med student Joy Kwon (Irene Choi), the Noah Wyle show's ambitions to have a rotating roster of medical professionals seems like a foolproof plan, even if it makes saying goodbye to characters like Dr. Heather Collins (Tracy Ifeachor) and Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh) that much harder.

When HBO’s The Last of Us first redefined what trauma really means, it couldn’t have been more timely. Neil Druckmann’s celebrated video game came out in 2013, before the world experienced a pandemic firsthand. This wasn’t the case when the television series hit the streamer in 2023. Fresh from a global pandemic, The Last of Us was highly relevant, which made infected humans puppeteered by evil mushrooms even more terrifying. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be the most prophetic version of a virus.
