KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 β€” Drivers stopping for fuel in Banting got more than they bargained for this morning β€” a crocodile longer than three metres was discovered lurking in a roadside drain near a petrol station in Sungai Manggis.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said firefighters were alerted to the unusual reptile rescue at 9.07am.

A team from the Banting Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene, where they discovered the hefty crocodile trapped in the drain near the road.

β€œThe operations commander reported that there was a crocodile inside a drain near the roadside.

β€œFirefighters at the scene then carried out an operation to capture the reptile,” he said in a statement today.

The rescue operation involved eight firefighters and two fire engines. Fortunately, no one was injured during the encounter with the unexpected visitor.
