Ever sine Jonathan Anderson showed a rounded green frog minaudière in his fall 2026 collection for Dior, fans wondered when the piece will make its red carpet debut. Well, we finally have our answer: the Cannes Film Festival. On Tuesday night, Ruth Negga brought the viral, smile-inducing piece to the red carpet for the event’s opening ceremony, complete with an enchanting look that instantly brought lily pads to mind.
For the occasion, Negga arrived to the festival’s opening ceremony dinner in a sweeping sage green silk gown by Dior. Her floor-length style featured a button-up bodice, accentuated by a plunging neckline overlaid with delicate black lace. Further accentuated by botanical black lace across its hemline, Negga’s slip-style gown created an enchantingly romantic feel. The piece’s greatest statement came from numerous fringed silk strips embroidered with clear sequins, creating a glittering effect as if the actor was dripping in dewdrops.
The actor’s most notable accessory was aforementioned frog clutch, complete with a round silver metal frame inspired by the brand’s revived 1947 Dior Médaillon motif. Overall, her other accessories—including a Chopard diamond necklace and mirrored silver platform sandals—went for a more “quality over quantity” approach.

Negga had previously appeared in a Loewe campaign when Anderson was the Spanish brand’s creative director. Her outing in Dior made her the latest star to have followed him to the French brand, a trajectory that’s also proven true for Greta Lee, Josh O’Connor, and Harris Dickinson, who had all championed Anderson’s work at Loewe. They, like any Anderson fan, know the man loves a whimsical touch. He’s previously unleashed the meme-inspired Loewe tomato and J.W. Anderson pigeon bags into the world. An adorable Dior hedgehog clutch has also already gone viral, thanks to his Instagram. As for what Anderson will cook up next at the French label? We’re keeping our eyes peeled on the Cannes red carpet—and on LACMA, which will host Dior’s Cruise 2027 show today.
Negga’s gleaming Cannes moment marked the first of many for the actress this week. As a member of this year’s festival jury, Negga will spend 12 days viewing the festival’s various films—and deciding its 2026 winners—with fellow jury members Demi Moore, Chloé Zhao, Park Chan-wook, Laura Wandel, Diego Céspedes, Stellan Skarsgård, Isaach De Bankolé, and Paul Laverty. With a romantically gothic style streak that’s ranged from 3D gold Prada florals to enchanting Valentino lace dresses, she undoubtedly has plenty of fashionable looks in store for the occasion.
After the steps have been ascended, the dinner picked at, and the photos taken, you might consider the Met Gala to be done. But for the attendees of fashion’s biggest night, their departure from the Metropolitan Museum of Art is just the beginning. Because after that glamorous evening in the Temple of Dendur, it’s time for the after-parties. There, away from (as many) cameras and prying eyes, the celebrities can finally let loose. This year, just like any, there were a number of events pulling stars across the city. Of course, Beyoncé and Jay-Z hosted a little something, which Rihanna called the “only” after party, but there was also Zoé Kravitz’s fête with Saint Luarent creative director Anthony Vaccarello at People’s and an evening at The Standard’s Boom with Grace Gummer and Gabriela Hearst. Each one brought with it a host of star-studded attendees, all of whom pulled out a second look for which to party into the late night (Or, should we say, early into the morning?). For some of the best after-party looks, keep scrolling.

Since her breakout turn as Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy in FX’s Love Story, Sarah Pidgeon has been leaning into a minimalist look adjacent to the fashionable figure’s own iconic wardrobe. However, in recent weeks, that stark aesthetic has incorporated more unique and subtly artisanal details on the red carpet—particularly as Love Story petitions for Emmy Awards consideration. At a FYC screening event for the show, Pidgeon took a more referential approach to CBK’s minimalism while embracing one of her all-time favorite designers: Yohji Yamamoto.
Katie Flores/Variety/Getty Images
For the aforementioned Love Story screening, Pidgeon stepped out in a lightweight black Yamamoto dress. However, this was far from your average LBD. Her flowing piece featured a squared neckline with one long, ruffled sleeve gathered at the sides. Meanwhile, the other featured a flounced, off-the-shoulder shape with a long slit, creating an asymmetrical appearance.
To further the piece’s minimalism, Pidgeon’s look was only worn with a dark pedicure and thin black slingback sandals, drawing further focus to the dress’s textures and technique. A wavy, undone hairstyle—much like her hair as Bessette-Kennedy on Love Story, which has been a frequent topic of discussion since the shoe premiered—further enhanced her nod to the late style icon.
CHRIS DELMAS/AFP/Getty Images
Decades ago, Bessette-Kennedy frequently wore Yamamoto’s pieces for their structural forms and subtly simple silhouettes. One of her most iconic was from a Whitney benefit event, featuring a white shirt from the Japanese designer’s menswear collection tucked into a black skirt from his women’s line. Other styles, including a ruffled opera coat and structural suiting, similarly struck a chord between classic elegance and avant-garde flair. Yamamoto’s designs both continued Bessette-Kennedy’s own intricate minimalism while progressing her look during her marriage to John F. Kennedy Jr. from 1996 to 1999, where she was documented nearly exclusively wearing his pieces.

With her own Yamamoto ensemble, Pidgeon took an approach to method dressing as Bessette-Kennedy that was more referential than literal. By nodding to the late figure’s style and the beloved designer that was a constant in her wardrobe, the actor’s approach was formally appropriate while showing a take on Bessette-Kennedy’s look that we haven’t seen before. Plus, given Yamamoto’s artisanal techniques and commitment to form, this is one CBK-inspired look the West Village girls can’t replicate overnight.

The Cannes Film Festival’s red carpet is the perfect occasion for a bold fashion statement. From eye-catching high jewelry to extravagant couture, there’s no lack of dramatic style during the cinematic occasion—just ask Sandra Hüller. The actor just delivered a master class in dressing for the festival in a feathered couture look.
For the premiere of her new film Fatherland, Hüller stepped out in an elegant Chanel haute couture dress designed by Matthieu Blazy. The piece included a crisp floor-length skirt with a smoothly draped train, accentuated by a long, flowing white bow. A custom jacket covered in frothy white feathers with black tips brought an explosion of texture to her ensemble. A version of the look was recently worn by Rihanna on the cover of W.

Hüller’s dramatic jacket, inspired by a look from Chanel’s spring 2026 couture collection, provided just the right amount of flair for the festival’s red carpet. Her look’s dynamic textures and clean color palette were distinctly appropriate for the event, while still remaining unique and avant-garde. To keep focus on the intricate ensemble, Hüller’s formalwear was subtly accessorized with low-heeled black pumps and gleaming diamond Chanel High Jewelry earrings.

With her latest Cannes outing, Hüller proved that a neutral black and white color palette doesn’t have to be basic or boring. The star’s use of texture and intricate details ensured that her ensemble retained depth and flair for the occasion, while remaining within the carpet’s strict dress codes. Her attire also smoothly aligned with her own penchant for artistic fashion statements, a streak that’s included futuristic suiting, feminine aprons, and richly embellished gowns.
As this year’s Cannes Film Festival continues, Hüller’s the latest star to bring formal glamour to the red carpet. So far, the event’s seen Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Kelly Rutherford, and more stars delivering glitzy back-to-back looks across its various premieres and photo-calls. With the festival officially concluding on May 24, there’s plenty of stylish statements in store in the coming days.
The Met Gala is still making its way around your newsfeeds, but the fashion world has already moved on to the South of France, where the annual Cannes Film Festival is underway. With some of the world’s biggest cinema stars, socialites, models, and the occasional influencer, its decidedly the year’s most glamorous seaside red carpet. This year, the jury alone includes style stars like Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, and Chloé Zhao, but the film lineup promises appearances from an array of other famous faces, sure to bring their best looks along with them.
Per usual, this year’s festival features an impressive list of film debuts. There’s The Black Ball starring Penelope Cruz, Glenn Close, and Julio Torres as well as Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan’s Fjord, and Scarlett Johansson’s new film with Adam Driver and Miles Teller, Paper Tiger. All of those names, and more, are sure to hit the carpet over the next two weeks, so keep checking back here for all the red carpet fashion from the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
There’s nothing quite like coordinating outfits with your best friend—even for the Met Gala. While striding up the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s soaring steps this evening, Hailey Bieber, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner each wore a sculptural breastplate. Of course, being the Met, their armor-like pieces were works of high fashion—or, as the 2026 dress code specified, fashion as art.
Kylie instantly made a statement while arriving to the museum in a sweeping Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown by Daniel Roseberry. Her custom design included a pale butter-toned, duchess satin skirt with a corset folded across it, mimicking the removal of clothing—and putting a clever spin on “naked” dressing.
The intricate design was covered in thousands of natural baroque pearls, sating stitch balls, and painted fish scales, which totaled over 11,000 hours of work, according to the brand. Kylie’s pièce de resistance, however, was a structured, corseted brown bustier crafted from brown toile that instantly brought body armor to mind. Her ensemble was finished with an antique bird head-accented silver necklace, as well as swinging chandelier earrings covered in pearls and crystals.
Meanwhile, Kendall brought a romantic take to the same look with her own breastplate and pale yellow dress, paired with small Buccellati pearl drop earrings. The model’s structural, nude-toned bodice and off-the-shoulder gown actually hailed from Gap Studio. Zac Posen’s strategic draping and gathering created a cinched, smooth silhouette, akin to clothing often seen on statues.

True to her own style, Bieber chose a more minimalist approach for her own avant-garde breastplate. The Rhode founder’s Saint Laurent look prominently featured a bodice sculpted from 24-carat gold—the purest form of gold available. In fact, the piece marked the second time she’s worn high-fashion hardware by Saint Laurent, following a similar gold metal bra seen in a 2021 Harper’s Bazaar shoot.
Bieber’s sculptural bodice was framed by a long silk chiffon skirt and sheer lavallière scarf in rich blue hues. Small gold earrings and rings added subtle metallic accents, drawing focus immediately back to her high-fashion breastplate.
Jenner and Bieber’s breastplates certainly stood out—but they weren’t the only stars wearing the structured piece. Jenner’s older sister Kim Kardashian stepped out in a bright orange chrome style on the red carpet, while Jen Rubio wore a wooden version accented with carved monkeys. The style has been a standout at past Galas, with iterations in mother-of-pearl, gold metal, and wood seen on guests including Ariana Grande, Taylor Russell, Kiara Advani, and Lil Nas X in the past.

Both Bieber and Jenner’s breastplates embraced starkly different aesthetics, but took the armor-like piece to new heights. While numerous guests opted for sheer, bejeweled, or floral outfits at this year’s Met Gala, theirs stood out from a pure dedication to artisanal craft. After all, it takes a true fashion diehard to wear a solid gold bodice—whether on or off the red carpet.
Nobody can deliver a thoughtful, artistic fashion statement on the red carpet quite like Cate Blanchett. For her latest outing at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the fashion-forward star continued that approach in blooming style thanks to Sarah Burton’s Givenchy.
At the festival’s Sunday premiere for Garance, Blanchett swished into the Palais des Festivals in an intricate gown from the French brand’s fall 2026 collection. Her backless style included a lightly wrapped neckline with a formal floor-length hem, all crafted from black silk. Embroidered red, pink, yellow, and blue flowers with swirling, shadowed green stems spread across the front of the piece, complete with subtle sheer paneling for added depth.
The dress’s intricate flowers were far from your average garden-variety blooms. Burton’s collection took direct inspiration from the Old Masters of European oil painting, with this particular gown echoing the overflowing still life portraits of Dutch artists like Jan Davidsz de Heem and Jan van Huysum. The same ornate florals covered a pair of sleek black leather gloves cinched at each end with a black silk bow, which smoothly matched Blanchett’s gown. However, her look’s most dramatic statement came from the thick layers of swishing color-coordinated fringe, making the flowers appear to be melting onto the red carpet.
That very same detail made the dress go instantly viral earlier this spring, when Mona Tougaard closed Givenchy’s runway in the design at Paris Fashion Week. The style’s intricate details, rich color palette, and experimental use of textures are all hallmarks of Burton’s, cementing her place as one of the most innovative designers to watch today. Blanchett, true to form, proved the perfect star to debut the dress on the red carpet—after all, it was an original work of art.
Mike Marsland/WireImage/Getty Images
However, this wasn’t Blanchett’s only fashionable moment at Cannes. On Saturday, the actor stepped out for the screening of Paper Tiger in a black velvet Louis Vuitton gown. Her custom ensemble, elegantly paired with diamond earrings and pointed black pumps, prominently featured a squared neckline framed with large lacy ruffles. In addition to being a signature of creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, the detail also smartly referenced the costumes worn in the actor’s Oscar-winning portrayal of Queen Elizabeth 1 in 1998’s Elizabeth. Even Blanchett, it seems, isn’t afraid of a self-reference on the red carpet.
Blanchett’s arrival at the Cannes Film Festival makes her the latest stylish star to touch down for the cinematic occasion. This year’s event has been a particularly fashionable affair so far through eye-catching outings by jury members Demi Moore and Ruth Negga, as well as guests including Isabelle Huppert, Sandra Hüller, Simone Ashley, and more. With an impressive streak that’s ranged from reworn award show gowns to frothy feathers, zippered leather, and more artistic fringe, Blanchett has delivered plenty of fashion surprises. But there’s no telling what she still has in store for Cannes—one thing is sure, her choices will make a statement.

Naturally, Amal Clooney knows her way around a red carpet. Though you might be familiar with the star’s glamorous eveningwear moments, she’s also earned her fashion stripes for her unique collection of vintage pieces. That streak continued this week, when Clooney—along with husband George Clooney—stepped out for The King’s Trust 50th anniversary celebration in London, fittingly wearing a design from one of the city’s most legendary designers.
During the event at Royal Albert Hall, Clooney shone upon arriving in a golden dress from Alexander McQueen’s fall 2007 collection. The piece featured a deep neckline, complete with a long hem and capped sleeves ideal for the formal occasion. Most notably, sequins coated the piece in intricate geometric patterns, a standout within the darker, symbol-themed collection—which was inspired by McQueen’s family ties to a victim of the Salem witch trials.

Clooney paired the vintage style with a gold bangle, interlocking hoop earrings, and a shimmering sequined clutch. Pointed-toe pumps, a constant in her wardrobe, brought her look a gilded finish. Glowing makeup by Charlotte Tilbury completed the effect with a radiant touch.
George, meanwhile, took the classic route in a deep blue suit and smooth black derbies. A set of dark sunglasses brought a dash of movie star flair to his attire, which—like Amal’s—has retained a polished, streamlined look through classic details over the years.
Mark Cuthbert/UK Press/Getty Images
Of course, Clooney’s no stranger to wearing historical designs on (or off) the red carpet. The star’s past outings have included archive and vintage looks from the ’50s’, to the ’90s, hailing from designers from Pierre Balmain to Yves Saint Laurent, Cristóbal Balenciaga, and Jean-Louis Scherrer. As the Clooneys make frequent appearances on the international film festival scene, it’s all but certain she’ll continue delivering more vintage-centric statements this season.
