Ever sine Jonathan Anderson showed a rounded green frog minaudière in his fall 2026 collection for Dior, fans wondered when the piece will make its red carpet debut. Well, we finally have our answer: the Cannes Film Festival. On Tuesday night, Ruth Negga brought the viral, smile-inducing piece to the red carpet for the event’s opening ceremony, complete with an enchanting look that instantly brought lily pads to mind.
For the occasion, Negga arrived to the festival’s opening ceremony dinner in a sweeping sage green silk gown by Dior. Her floor-length style featured a button-up bodice, accentuated by a plunging neckline overlaid with delicate black lace. Further accentuated by botanical black lace across its hemline, Negga’s slip-style gown created an enchantingly romantic feel. The piece’s greatest statement came from numerous fringed silk strips embroidered with clear sequins, creating a glittering effect as if the actor was dripping in dewdrops.
The actor’s most notable accessory was aforementioned frog clutch, complete with a round silver metal frame inspired by the brand’s revived 1947 Dior Médaillon motif. Overall, her other accessories—including a Chopard diamond necklace and mirrored silver platform sandals—went for a more “quality over quantity” approach.
Francois G. Durand/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images
Negga had previously appeared in a Loewe campaign when Anderson was the Spanish brand’s creative director. Her outing in Dior made her the latest star to have followed him to the French brand, a trajectory that’s also proven true for Greta Lee, Josh O’Connor, and Harris Dickinson, who had all championed Anderson’s work at Loewe. They, like any Anderson fan, know the man loves a whimsical touch. He’s previously unleashed the meme-inspired Loewe tomato and J.W. Anderson pigeon bags into the world. An adorable Dior hedgehog clutch has also already gone viral, thanks to his Instagram. As for what Anderson will cook up next at the French label? We’re keeping our eyes peeled on the Cannes red carpet—and on LACMA, which will host Dior’s Cruise 2027 show today.
Negga’s gleaming Cannes moment marked the first of many for the actress this week. As a member of this year’s festival jury, Negga will spend 12 days viewing the festival’s various films—and deciding its 2026 winners—with fellow jury members Demi Moore, Chloé Zhao, Park Chan-wook, Laura Wandel, Diego Céspedes, Stellan Skarsgård, Isaach De Bankolé, and Paul Laverty. With a romantically gothic style streak that’s ranged from 3D gold Prada florals to enchanting Valentino lace dresses, she undoubtedly has plenty of fashionable looks in store for the occasion.
During her ongoing press tour for Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, Emily Blunt has embraced an array of enchantingly structural designs by Alaïa, Stella McCartney, and more. Her latest romantic look, which also embraces medieval references and luxe glamour, continues to show she’ll always keep you guessing when it comes to fashion.
On the red carpet for the sci-fi film’s official United Kingdom premiere, Blunt fittingly arrived to Rose Court in a blooming Erdem ensemble. From the designer’s fall 2026 collection, her look featured a pale pink crushed silk midi skirt covered in a shadowy black and red rose print. However, its greatest statement came from a structured, heathered white top with a high neckline and flat shoulders, instantly bringing to mind the silhouette of knightly armor. The raw-hemmed piece was geometrically adorned with thin stitching and an assortment of swirling pink, coral, and silver-toned floral crystals, creating an ornamental finish.
Stylist Jessica Paster finished Blunt’s garden-worthy outfit with Mikimoto jewelry—a gleaming gold bangle, huggie earrings, and cocktail ring, each set with small diamonds and adorned with a single white pearl. The actor’s ensemble was complete with sheer tights and a set of pale brown satin sandals, simply finishing her look while allowing its adornments and soft jewel hues to serve as a focal point.

Blunt’s look originally walked the runway as part of Erdem’s fall 2026 show in the Tate Britain in London, which also marked the twentieth anniversary of Erdem Moralioğlu’s namesake label. Taking inspirations from both British artists from the 1800’s and 1900’s, as well as the UK’s ‘90s rave culture, the collection showed a darker side of his sophisticated eveningwear and outerwear—complete, of course, with a rich color palette, smatterings of jewels, and his signature garden’s worth of floral prints.
Jodie Comer’s all-black streak continues. Following her last outings in head-to-toe leather at Paris Fashion week and the British Fashion Awards, the actor returned to the fashion circuit this week in a slick black leather coat and thong heels while promoting her latest film, The Death of Robin Hood. Last night, she added to that dark repertoire with a distinctly daring dress, which also leaned into the recent “naked dressing” revival.
During The Death of Robin Hood’s world premiere in New York City, Comer stepped out in a sharp black gown crafted entirely from intricate floral lace. Her Givenchy by Sarah Burton design featured a high neckline, long sleeves, and floor-length hem, bringing the risqué, see-through piece a distinctly formal shape. Embroidered matching sequins brought the style, simply layered over a pair of black briefs, a dash of sparkling glamour.
John Nacion/Variety/Getty Images
Comer placed further emphasis on her dress’s dynamic texture with minimal accents, only consisting of black slingback Jimmy Choo sandals and her own diamond wedding ring. A nude manicure, lightly tousled hairstyle, and glossy mauve lipstick effortlessly completed her ensemble. The same styling move’s been utilized throughout other “naked dressing” looks of the 2020s, which highlight the wearer’s figure through lace, mesh, and sheer fabrics to create an illusion of nudity. This year, the movement’s grown through a myriad of silhouettes and styles, from Gwyneth Paltrow’s sheer Oscars pants, Jennifer Lawrence’s floral-embroidered Golden Globes dress, and Teyana Taylor’s painting-inspired gown at the SAG Awards—plus the see-through looks Anne Hathaway donned while promoting Mother Mary this spring.
While proving a sharp departure from Comer’s regular fashion fare, her transparent dress also upheld the presence of black lace on the red carpet. Through the decades, stars have often gravitated towards the romantic, elegant material to make a sultry statement at formal events. Most recently, Emily Ratajkowski, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner all wore black lace dresses in a range of silhouettes to the Vanity Fair Oscars party, preceded by instances like Hannah Waddingham’s corseted Suzanne Neville dress at the 2024 Golden Globes and Dakota Johnson’s barely-there Gucci gown at last fall’s Kering Foundation “Caring For Women” event. And, of course, who could forget Britney Spears’ black lace Dolce & Gabbana minidress at the 2001 VMA’s?
Comer’s attire proved the black lace dress isn’t going anywhere, while still continuing her penchant for dynamic silhouettes. Whether she chooses leather, lace, or another fabrication entirely, the star’s next red carpet look is sure to keep us guessing.
The Cannes Film Festival is any fashion lover’s dream. For two weeks in May, the world’s biggest stars dress up to the absolute nines and hit the red carpet day in and day out. Picking from their favorite couture moments or ready-to-wear gowns, the festival is a time for some of fashion’s most extravagant pieces to shine. No precise aesthetic defines the festival’s red carpet aside from a penchant for statements and a bit of adventurous glamour.
Models and actors alike have nailed the assignment over the years, wearing a range of designers including big names like Lanvin, Givenchy, and Alexander McQueen, and relatively more niche labels like Haider Ackermann (Tilda Swinton’s Cannes go-to), Narciso Rodriguez, and Ralph & Russo. As stars begin to descend on the south of France for the 2026 edition, we’re highlighting a few of our favorite statements from the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

Just a few weeks after announcing her pregnancy at the Met Gala, Rihanna hit the Cannes premiere for A$AP Rocky’s film, Highest 2 Lowest, in a cobalt blue Alaïa dress.
Alexander Skarsgård was the man of the moment at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025 when he promoted his gay biker drama, Pillion, in an array of out-of-the-box looks. While most men walked the red carpet in traditional black tuxes, the actor opted to wear thigh-high leather boots to complete his Saint Laurent ensemble.
Natalie Portman loves to bring a reimagined, archival Dior dress to the Cannes red carpet. Two years after she attended the premiere for May December in a recreation of the famous Junon dress, she returned in a modern version of the Mexique gown from the Dior fall 1951 haute couture collection.
Sometimes, less is more. Simone Ashley proved that when she attended the Cannes Film Festival in 2025 wearing a gorgeous, white Vivienne Westwood spring 2025 dress.

Isabelle Huppert broke the tradition of Cannes red carpet gowns in 2024 when she wore this elevated bathrobe from Balenciaga.
It’s one thing to wear archive Chanel, and an entirely different thing to wear archive Chanel you modeled on the runway two decades prior. Naomi Campbell did all of that and more in 2024 when she wore this vintage couture look from 1996.
Jennifer Lawrence loves a flat, and her decision to wear flip-flops underneath her red Dior dress was one of the more memorable pieces of footwear to hit the Cannes red carpet.
For the Cannes premiere of May December, perennial Dior muse Natalie Portman brought the house’s archives to the red carpet. She sported a recreation of one of Dior’s most famous designs, the Junon dress, which was originally created for the house’s fall 1949 collection.

There’s LBDs and then there’s archival LBDs like the one Lily-Rose Depp wore to Cannes in 2023. The actress, in town for the premiere of The Idol, sported a vintage Chanel mini dress, a take on a dress that was first modeled by Helena Christensen back in 1994.

The Costume Institute’s “Costume Art” exhibit celebrates the “dressed body,” and last night on the Met Gala red carpet celebrating the exhibit several stars found their fashion inspiration in the human body. Though, one body part proved particularly popular, and perhaps not the one you’d think. The red carpet was something of an all-hands meeting, with several stars putting their hands (and several extras) where our eyes could see.
Anne Hathaway kicked things off in a sweeping black Michael Kors Collection gown, which featured a strapless silhouette and full skirt. The star’s classic style earned an artistic touch from Peter McGough, who hand-painted the piece with a white Grecian design—including open palms—inspired by John Keats’ poem “Ode on a Grecian Urn.”
Anne Hathaway | TheStewartofNY/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images
Others went the more sculptural route, like Lena Mahfouf. The French content creator’s look for Burc Akyol featured a pale blue draped skirt, complete with daring hip cutouts. Its most dynamic feature came from a metal bodice sculpted in the shape of silver hands, remaining innovative and bold while providing strategic coverage.
Lena Mahfouf | Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images
A similar effect—albeit with more technical results—was seen on Nichapat Suphap’s dress by Robert Wun. The Venture Management founder’s black, long-sleeved mermaid style gown included silver metal hands placed on its bodice, hip, and calf. However, the accents were actually animatronic, moving and adjusting their fingers on a whim—which proved both technologically eye-catching, going instantly viral online.
Wun also dressed Broadway producer and real estate heir Jordan Roth, who wore a muted gray velvet turtleneck dress with fully gloved sleeves. A spectral, faceless human form—a signature seen in Wun’s couture shows—protruded from the back of Roth’s dress. By appearing to gently touch his face, the accent added a surrealist, hands-on edge to Roth’s attire.
Jordan Roth | Matt Crossick - PA Images/PA Images/Getty Images
Wun’s hand-focused crew was complete with Blackpink member Lisa, who wore a sweeping sheer white gown with a matching veil—all embroidered with gleaming pearls and crystals. To keep her headwear upright, two extended white arms (naturally, covered in diamond bracelets) added to the look’s avant-garde nature. The pieces also created the surreal effect of Lisa having four arms, which certainly made a sculptural statement.
Lisa | Udo Salters/Patrick McMullan/Getty Images
Sabine Getty rounded out the group in an Ashi Studio gown. The socialite and jewelry designer’s look featured a wispy, pale white layered skirt and one-sleeved bodice, punctuated by a sculpted breastplate. Cast in shades of black, brown, and red, her style depicted hand-painted arms clutching her body. Utilizing craft and an undone effect, her artisanal piece literally portrayed hands as a work of art—which, naturally, was perfectly on-theme.
Gilbert Flores/Variety/Getty Images
All of the red carpet’s various hands leaned into a central theme of body security, all while highlighting the natural shape of the human form. However, their wide range of formats proved there’s more than one way to grasp that concept—both figuratively and literally.
Even rockstars enjoy a night at the ballet—just ask Mick Jagger. Last night, the singer and his fiancée, former ballerina Melanie Hamrick, stepped out for an elegant evening at the New York City Ballet’s Spring Gala. For the occasion, both Jagger and Hamrick opted for surprising fashion choices that leaned into rock 'n' roll-worthy style.
Hamrick sparkled on the red carpet at Lincoln Center in a strapless silver gown, featuring ombré sequins for added glitz. Her mirrored silver pumps provided a dash of high-shine metallics, alongside a pair of thin diamond drop earrings. A gleaming diamond bracelet and small pale pink clutch finished her ensemble with added hints of texture.
Gilbert Carrasquillo/GC Images/Getty Images
Meanwhile, Jagger opted to ditch the traditional tuxedo for more eclectic suiting. His black jack, trimmed with inverted white lace, comes from Bode (the never-not-cool American menswear lable, that, incidentally, is also a favorite of Harry Styles). Underneath, he wore a shirt and pants in midnight blue and added a pair of unexpected black hiking boots. A true rock stars style will always keep people guessing.
Theo Wargo/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images
The moment marked a rare outing for the Jagger and Hamrick, who became engaged earlier this year after a decade of dating. The pair alread share one child together. As gala season continues, it’s clear there’s always room for a fashion surprise on the red carpet—especially with a bit of rockstar flair.
As the international Master of The Universe press tour wraps up, it’s clear Camila Mendes had her red carpet outfits down to a science. Or perhaps a religion. From Los Angeles to Berlin, the star steadily rotated single-toned, subtly constructed looks with gleaming metallic accents and just the right hint of “goddess.” That formula continued with her latest neutral ensemble, elevated with a vintage touch by Donna Karan New York.
For the fantasy film’s last screening in New York City, Mendes stepped out in a smooth, chocolate-brown silk dress from Karan’s fall 2004 collection. The dynamic, yet simple style featured a sleeveless bodice with a plunging neckline, clasped by a sculptural piece of gleaming gold metal. A soaring thigh-high slit and effortlessly draped train brought the style a breezy, sultry finish.
Similarly to Mendes’ previous stops on the press tour, stylist Molly Dickson kept her accessories minimal to allow the garment’s colors and silhouette to take center stage. On this occasion, the star’s Karan dress was coordinated with a pair of metallic gold open-toed sandals with subtle crossed toe straps. Several matching rings and thick, rounded earrings added a soft shine that matched her outfit’s metallic accents while perfectly complementing its artisanal hardware.
During the film’s various events, Dickson’s outfitted the actor in dresses and separates with subtle draping, body-conscious silhouettes, and single-toned colors from labels including Cong Tri, Elisabetta Franchi, and Anna October. Mendes’ outing in archival Karan followed a trip down the red carpet in vintage Roberto Cavalli leopard-print dress for its Berlin premiere. However, she isn’t the only star with a go-to outfit formula. Mendes’ co-star Nicholas Galitzine has consistently worn dark, double-breasted suits for each of the movie’s events, as well. After all, why fix what already works?
Though Masters of the Universe’s red carpets have officially wrapped, its cast is expected to step out for social media-based interviews and late night talk show appearances before the film’s June 5 release. It’s likely Mendes and Galitzine will both turn to their tried-and-true outfit formulas for the remainder of their press stops—but, as Mendes’ vintage looks have proven, there’s always room for a subtle surprise.
The Met Gala is still making its way around your newsfeeds, but the fashion world has already moved on to the South of France, where the annual Cannes Film Festival is underway. With some of the world’s biggest cinema stars, socialites, models, and the occasional influencer, its decidedly the year’s most glamorous seaside red carpet. This year, the jury alone includes style stars like Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, and Chloé Zhao, but the film lineup promises appearances from an array of other famous faces, sure to bring their best looks along with them.
Per usual, this year’s festival features an impressive list of film debuts. There’s The Black Ball starring Penelope Cruz, Glenn Close, and Julio Torres as well as Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan’s Fjord, and Scarlett Johansson’s new film with Adam Driver and Miles Teller, Paper Tiger. All of those names, and more, are sure to hit the carpet over the next two weeks, so keep checking back here for all the red carpet fashion from the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
Blackpink is no stranger to the red carpet, and, yet, somehow all four members had never attended the same Met Gala. At least until tonight, when Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé had something of a reunion on fashion’s biggest night. It marked the first time that all four members of the South Korean girl group attended the event at the same time. For Jisoo, it was actually her Met Gala debut. In the process, each of their looks highlighted the “Costume Art”-themed evening’s range of red carpet trends, with plenty of sparkle in tow.
Lisa stepped out in a sweeping sheer white dress by Robert Wun, complete with a long-sleeved bodice and mermaid-style skirt. The piece glittered from sprinklings of white and silver Swarovski crystals, but that wasn’t its most eye-catching element. White arm-shaped sculptures dripping in diamond bracelets were attached to the dress, holding up a matching veil over Lisa to form an abstract statement.
On a darker note, Rosé stepped out in a strapless black Saint Laurent gown by Anthony Vaccarello, featuring a bold thigh-high slit. The piece’s greatest statement came from a massive abstract brooch shaped like a Senfo hornbill, which was covered in dark crystals for added glamour. The bird itself frequently inspired Yves Saint Laurent, and famously appeared as a motif in his spring 1988 collection. The singer’s brooch smoothly aligned with the red carpet’s avian theme of birds and feathers while remaining distinctly minimalist. However, it wasn’t her look’s only glam factor; that went to her glistening diamond Tiffany & Co. collar necklace, whose layered jewels appeared to nod to the spreading of bird wings.
ANGELA WEISS/AFP/Getty Images
Meanwhile, Jennie opted for heavy metals in a shining Chanel dress. Her metallic column style, complete with a cinched bustier bodice, was fully overlaid with shimmering sequined leaves in a range of blue shades. The intricate piece took 540 hours to create, in tandem with creative director Matthieu Blazy’s passion for artisanal craftsmanship. A swinging diamond Chanel High Jewelry earring and diamond ring, complete with a crystal-covered clutch, finished her look with a burst of glamorous sparkle.
Jisoo rounded out the group in her blossoming Dior dress, a sequined style cast in hues of pink, purple, black, and white. The strapless piece was cinched by a sculptural layered waistline, accented—like its upper half—with cascading silk flowers in a similar palette. From far away, the dress appeared to feature a pattern of blossoming floral branches with petals floating down—with the illusion immediately being a work of art itself. A thin, diamond-lined velvet choker, small diamond rings, and ear cuffs from Cartier brought a bejeweled touch to her ensemble, which was one of the latest floral looks to hit the red carpet.
Altogether, Blackpink’s four members each delivered singular style statements while remaining in sync with the 2026 Met Gala’s key trends. Allover sparkle, sheer “naked” textures, avian and floral motifs, and sculptural accents have spread across this year’s carpet on a range of guests, from Nicole Kidman to Zoë Kravitz, Emma Chamberlain, and more. Together, Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé proved their penchant for keeping up with of-the-moment looks for fashion’s biggest night. Blackpink in your area, indeed.
It is quite the honor to get tapped as a member of the Cannes Film Festival jury. It signals the respect from one's cineam peers and trust in their taste. Members pick the festival’s winner, after all. But there is a lot of pressure on the jury, not only to choose deserving honorees, but also to show up to every red carpet and photocall looking worthy of the appointment. Throughout the festival, a jury member may attend dozens of events—often two or three in just one day—and they need a new and appropriate look for each one. Not everyone is up for such a task, but when Demi Moore was appointed to the 2026 Cannes jury, there was no question that she could handle it.
Moore and her long-time stylist Brad Goreski have been taking us on a nonstop sartorial journey since the festival kicked off earlier this month. Starting with a playful Jacquemus number, Moore has brought glamour, sophistication, and a touch of camp with a wide array of ensembles. Truly, who would expect her to follow up a sparkling Tamara Ralph dress with that pink Matières Fécales number? Absolutely no one. And something tells us Moore has more in store as the festival continues. Below, a look at all of her ensembles thus far.

On May 16, Mariacarla Boscono wore this fur Gucci top down the runway in New York during Demna’s resort 2027 show. Two days later, the top was on Moore at the Fjord premiere in the South of France.
Moore has been wearing a lot of Chopard jewels throughout the festival, which is fitting considering the luxury brand is a sponsor of the event. But when the actor attended the Kering Women in Motion Awards on May 17, she swapped out her regular gems for a Boucheron necklace, an especially striking piece that stood out against her purple, croc leather Gucci dress.

While for the most part, Moore has been bringing some classic red carpet glamour to Cannes, she decided to mix things up a bit for the Paper Tiger premiere on May 18. The actor arrived to the screening in a campy, hot pink Matières Fécales fall 2026 dress with a shredded hem and comically large bow.

As if the crystal-covered Tamara Ralph spring 2026 couture dress Moore wore to the Trophée Chopard dinner on May 15 wasn’t glamorous enough, the actor paired it with a gorgeous, ostrich feather shawl. Of course, she completed the look with Chopard jewelry.

The exacting red carpet streak that Greta Lee’s built over the years just got a burst of whimsy. This summer, the actor stars in Toy Story 5, which kicked off its international press tour in London yesterday. While working with cool-girl stylist Danielle Goldberg, Lee showed her first look while promoting the animated film—and, true to form, it leaned on sophisticated silhouettes with a playful touch.
Lee stepped out on the red carpet in a smooth, silky red dress by High Sport. Her sleeveless style featured a draped halter neckline, complete with a long skirt trimmed in swishing red fringe. The piece was also covered in a pattern of small white shooting stars, fashionably nodding to the outer space origins of Toy Story protagonist Buzz Lightyear.

Like her past looks styled by Goldberg, Lee’s premiere outfit was minimally accessorized. Without jewelry—save for Lee’s wedding ring from husband Russ Armstrong—more focus was drawn to her dress’s astronomical print and textured trim. The actor’s ensemble was simply finished by a smooth pair of white Gianvito Rossi pointed-toe pumps, providing a clean base that instantly picked up the light hue of her outfit’s star pattern.

Lee’s ensemble also brought a minimalist take on subtle referential dressing. This year, outings by stars promoting films like The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Super Mario Galaxy have also leaned on more lowkey nods to their projects and characters when dressing for the red carpet. With her starry dress, Lee is the latest example of how fashion statements can still be made through minimal, simpler ensembles. As Toy Story 5’s press tour continues, along with its upcoming Los Angeles premiere, there’s sure to be more playfully sophisticated style statements in her future.
