Fashion Bulletin: An All-American Dream at Louis Vuitton

Welcome back! It’s been a big week in NYC, with all of the Cruise madness wrapping up in the city that never sleeps. I returned from Boston at 12am on Saturday night/Sunday morning and put on a shrink-wrapped dress to attend the Gucci afterparty on Madison Ave, which was a fun and glam time for sure. A “Gucci Mansion” was staged at the Gossip Girl filming location The Palace Hotel, and for anyone who did not grow up in New York but definitely did grow up on Gossip Girl, this felt like a whimsical touch.

Elsewhere in NYC this week—The Frick Collection, to be exact—Nicholas Ghesquiere staged his Louis Vuitton Cruise 2027 collection, which was the second time the creative director has given the brand the New York treatment—the first was in 2019 at JFK airport. This time, Ghesquiere set out to capture the heart and energy of the city, code switching between the uptown and downtown energies of Manhattan, riffing on inspiration from the late Keith Haring to the Gilded Age, which all felt perfectly apt of the French creative director, whose knack for jumping between past, present, and future is what keeps his silhouettes feeling fresh.

Other notable moments: Alana Haim’s runway debut, the Edwardian ruffles in the closing exits, and the low-pulled felt fedoras that almost all of the models sported that made everything feel so him.

Chanel Opens Ephemeral Boutique In The Hamptons

Chanel goes back to the beach again! This time, instead of Biarritz, the storied French maison is opening new doors in East Hampton today, May 22. Located on Newton Lane, Chanel’s East Hampton offering will include everything from ready-to-wear, accessories, leather goods, shoes, watches and fine jewelry, and the Chanel Coco Beach 2026 collection, which sets the tone for shoppers during the summer months to enjoy the spirit of the seaside with fun colors and unique accessories. Chanel and the beach feels like the perfect start to the summer.

Balenciaga Collaborates With Manolo Blahnik

Plenty of things are widely loved, Manolo Blahnik being pretty far up on my list. Same with Balenciaga, which means the news that the two houses have launched their first iteration of their collaboration is very well received. This week, the shoes, featured in the Fall/Winter 2026 collection by Pierpaolo Piccioli, are now available, and feature a low heeled mule and slingback in Manolo Blahnik's signature satin with embellished details, this time with a low scoop to reveal extra skin, which remains a primary focus for Piccioli’s vision at the house. Go get your Manolos!

SCAD Fashion Showcase Returns In Georgia

In Savannah, Georgia, The Savannah College of Art and Design presents a yearly showcase to celebrate work of senior and graduate students, and last week, presentations, activations and experiences were programmed in the southern state, featuring a runway show with a roster of over 60 designers in participation.Coco Rocha returned to coach student models, and an eveningwear presentation featured six students who have been mentored throughout the year by Lanvin’s Peter Copping. The 200-piece collection from various designers featured plenty of contemporary silhouettes, sculptural shapes, and avant garde moments that restore faith in our emerging young American designers.

How to Wear Thong Sandals and Flip-Flops Beyond the Beach

Images courtesy of Getty

Peak sandal season is upon us—and for summer 2026, the look of the moment is the thong, colloquially known as the flip-flop. Held to the foot by a Y-shaped strap, thong sandals have been adorning toes since the days of Ancient Egyptian civilization; since then, the style has ebbed and flowed in popularity for centuries. Today, it is a closet staple that can be seen (and shopped) across the spectrum—from Gucci to Auralee to Staud—in both flat and heeled versions. Fashion acolytes might credit the shoe’s resurgence to The Row, whose 2019 Ginza sandal was an instant hit.

Thong sandals are a surprisingly versatile shoe for summer. They’re great for dressing down workwear that can feel stuffy in the warmer months (think: suiting separates) but they’re also at home with Bermuda shorts or a sarong by the beach. Taller iterations, like Alaïa’s sculptural wedge style, are newer to the trend cycle and feel particularly fresh with eveningwear. Shop all of our favorite thong sandals, and see how we’re wearing them, here.

Dress Down a Summer Suit

Auralee’s green thong sandals add a welcome dose of color and levity to a dark linen set.

Keep It Classic in a T-Shirt and Jeans

You can’t go wrong with your favorite tee, jeans, and sandals—it’s the unofficial off-duty uniform for city summers, after all.

Try Some Shape-Shifting

Alaïa’s sky-high wedge sandals call for an equally sculptural dress, like this draped style from Toteme.

Bermuda, Bahama

For a beach jaunt or a weekend off, thong sandals and a pair of Bermuda shorts make perfect sense. Go for a pair of long shorts that are structured or tailored to lend a polished feel.

Greet the Sun in a Sarong (Over Trousers)

Shake up your typical trousers by dabbling in summer’s sarong-over-pants trend. Loewe’s heavy sandals help anchor the look.

Summer Brights

Aeyde’s kitten-heeled thong in nude is elegant and neutral, a match made for bold summer brights.

All The Best 2026 Cannes Film Festival Looks

The Cannes Film Festival kicked off last week and the looks just keep pouring in. The festival is known for highlighting and jump-starting the careers of auteur, independent, and international directors, premiering Oscar worthy films and, of course, for the celebrity appearances and luxury fashion moments.

While the festival, very much to our dismay, recently banned naked dresses (the biggest power move of a trend), the looks already trickling in are restoring us with hope—and included some brave souls defying the newly implemented rule. The French Riviera calls for a very distinct sense of fashion: glamorous, luxury resort, and, because of the strict formal guidelines, creativity is necessary to turn a noteworthy look.

So far, we've been blessed with Bella Hadid in custom Prada, Isabelle Huppert in Gucci, Riley Keough in sheer Chanel, Demi Moore affirming that the polka dot trend is here to stay, and Diane Kruger inspiring our future travel looks—because at Cannes, the travel and arrival looks are nearly as important (and photographed) as the red carpet looks.

Ahead, the 2026 Cannes Festival Looks restoring our hope, inspiring us, and catching our eyes.

Taylor Russell

For the Hope photocall, Taylor Russell wore a black long-sleeve dress with a turtleneck from Daniel Roseberry's Fall/Winter 2026 Schiaparelli collection.

Chiara Ferragni

For a day out in Cannes, Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni wore a two piece set by Roberto Cavalli.

Kristen Stewart

For the premiere of her new film Full Phil, Kristen Stewart wore a Chanel gown made entirely of black and red beaded mesh.

The naked-dress defiance continues! For the Full Phil photocall, Stewart wore a sheer white skirt suit from Chanel's Spring 2026 Haute Couture collection.

Cate Blanchett

For the Garance screening, Cate Blanchett wore a Givenchy Fall/Winter 2026 by Sarah Burton gown that dripped in satin fringe. Inpsired the work of Filipino artist Olan Ventura, the dress also featured beautiful floral embroidery, 3D elements, and details reminiscent of wet paintings.

Liu Wen

For the Garance screening, model Liu Wen wore a dress from Chanel's Fall 2026 collection: a pink number with feathers, lace, and floral embellishments.

Colman Domingo

For the Garance screening, fashion icon Colman Domingo wore a dramatic purple diamond encrusted silk shirt with a train by Valentino. He paired the statement top with perfectly tailored pinstriped pants and a Boucheron brooch.

Bella Hadid

For the screening of Garance, Bella Hadid opted for a custom Prada strapless satin column dress. The dress featured an embellished bust and a matching wrap shrug casually yet elegantly falling off her shoulders.

Isabelle Huppert

In lieu of Balenciaga, actress and icon Isabelle Huppert went with Gucci for Histoires Parallèles premiere. The red gown was accessorized with matching opera gloves.

Sara Sampaio

For the Fatherland premiere, model Sara Sampaio opted for custom Miu Miu. The gown in question was an off-white, featured tiers of pleats and ruffles, and featured exposed corset detailing at the bodice.

Sandra Hüller

For the premiere of her film Fatherland, actress Sandra Hüller in what would be a rather simple black Chanel column dress—if not for the dramatic, voluminous feather jacket, that is.

Riley Keough

We told you that thong heels were the it-girl shoe of the season! Further proven by Riley Keough who paired hers with a custom black Alaïa dress.

Our favorite thing to come out of Cannes thus far? The ladies boldly defying the festival's ban on naked-dressing. Riley Keough arrived at the Histoires Parallèles premiere in a sheer blush pink organza two piece set from Chanel's Spring 2026 collection.

Hannah Einbinder

Hannah Einbinder walked the red carpet for the screening of A Woman's Life in a neutral Celine look: a high waisted satin skirt with a bit of shine and a short sleeve white turtle neck top.

Gillian Anderson

For the screening of A Woman's Life, Gillian Anderson wore a white Miu Miu dress with embellished detailing along the straps and midriff.

Demi Moore

The polka dot trend will never die—and Demi Moore knows that. For the Cannes Film Festival jury photo-call, Moore arrived in a fall 2026 Jacquemus strapless dress covered in raised dots of various colors. Plus, a matching bag!

For the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony, Moore wore a custom Jacquemus gown: a sculptural bustier dress crafted out of sequins with a modest train.

Demi Moore

For the Fatherland premiere, Moore wore a custom red Gucci dress akin to a sculpture.

For the premiere of La Vie D'Une Femme, Demi Moore wore custom purple organza gown by Gucci. The dress featured a dramatic train, was off the shoulder, and was sheer in all the right places.

Ruth Negga

For the first day of the Cannes Film Festival, actress Ruth Negga and stylist Karla Welch pulled from Michael Rider's Celine. The look consisted of a silky off white pant and top set featuring the most perfect stitching and a neck-tie detail—and, both blew in the wind in the most ethereal manner.

For the screening of A Woman's Life, Ruth Negga wore a black long sleeve lace Saint Laurent gown featuring voluminous tulle detailing at the waist.

For the festival's opening Gala, Negga brought both the texture and the color to the event. She wore green satin and fringe dress by Dior, complete with black lace detailing.

Charlotte Cardin

The festival notably banned naked-dressing last year, but that didn't stop Canadian singer Charlotte Cardin from walking the A Woman's Life red carpet in a fully sheer black lace Saint Laurent gown.

Meadow Walker

Meadow Walker walked the Fast and Furious screening red carpet in a ruffled and asymmetrical dress by Alaïa.

Theodora

No naked-dressing, no problem. Theodora arrived at the A Women's Life screening in a seductive and sexy Vivienne Westwood look—plus plaid platform shoes to complete the look.

Diane Kruger

Whether by boat or by plane, arrivals are a major part of the Cannes Film Festival. And, we're always welcome to airport style inspiration. Diane Kruger touched down in Cannes in a baggy white t-shirt, baggy high-waisted jeans, slouchy suede boots, and a baseball cap.

Maura Higgins

Maura Higgins made her first Cannes appearance in vintage Thierry Mugler—and we would expect no less. The two-piece jacket and skirt was white, with aquamarine and magenta detailing, featured distinct broad shoulders, and was complete with a tie detail at the waist.

Penelope Cruz's Does a Daring Leg Slit the Chanel Way

Karwai Tang/WireImage/Getty Images

Ask anyone: there’s almost no detail as daring on the red carpet than a dynamic slit. The sultry accent has stopped traffic on every red carpetfrom the Met Gala to the Oscars—after all, who could forget Angelina Jolie’s viral thigh-high slit from 2012? The latest star to step out with the bold detail is Penelope Cruz, who brought high-slit drama to this year’s Cannes Film Festival with a little help from Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel.

Lionel Hahn/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

Today, Cruz wore a one-shouldered black gown for the festival’s screening of La Bola Negra. The gathered design prominently featured a thigh-high slit, ideal for spotlighting the actor’s sharp black pumps. Her look was complete with a flowing back sash, as well as dramatically flared, futuristic raffia flowers—one atop her thigh, the other on her right shoulder—that have become one of Blazy’s signature at Chanel.

Cruz’s look was the latest Chanel style to grace the Cannes red carpet this year. Since the festival began, numerous stars have continued to wear a wide range of designs from Blazy’s various viral collections. Newly announced brand ambassador Sandra Hüller stepped out in a bold, feather-covered hooded dress last week. Meanwhile, longtime global Chanel house ambassador Kristen Stewart broke multiple festival dress codes in a sheer skirt set and crocheted gown—complete with matching Chanel sneakers—within 24 hours. If there’s one designer who’s commanding the red carpet at Cannes this year, it certainly appears to be Blazy.

The black dress that Cruz wore on the festival’s red carpet also proved that the smallest details can make a big impact within the most subtle designs. Through its emphatic slit and surrealist florals, her outfit was elevated from a minimalist silhouette to a bold fashion statement—one that was literally blooming with character.
