I honestly miss the time when trilogies were simple and wholesome instead of constantly chasing bigger action scenes in every single movie. A lot of modern franchises already start thinking about spin-offs, crossovers, and cinematic universes before the first film even has its own identity. And that's what ruins the foundation. Older trilogies had a more personal feeling; it felt like we were growing old with those characters after every installment, and they didn't exactly care about being greenlit for the next season or next spin-off.

One of the good things about streaming becoming so easy and widespread is that there always seems to be some place for any movie to end up. The big streamers can fight over new releases, or just make multi-billion dollar deals to buy the competition, but there’s usually somebody who appreciates the classics. There are certain things you might expect to see at the end of a Western, and with some of the movies below, some have inevitable endings. Like, a reliable thing to do is have a showdown, building to it the whole movie, or a memorable Western ending might do something else, or have some kind of final battle/shootout end in a way that’s perhaps unexpected.

Trying to find fast-paced movies will often turn up movies that are a little more recent, in the overall scheme of things. Not every film, but the average film nowadays is going to be a little snappier and faster overall than, say, the average movie 60 years ago. You can have a preference, and it’s not like one approach is better than the other… more just the difference is there, and that’s that. It has been acknowledged.
