Donald Trump said on Saturday night he initially thought that the sound of a gunman charging a security checkpoint at the White House Correspondentsโ€™ Association dinner was a tray falling, in his first remarks about what was going through his mind as the incident unfolded.

โ€œActually, it was totally shocking to me, and that never changes,โ€ Trump said, appearing to refer to the assassination attempt against him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and a second incident on his golf course in Florida during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Trump extends US-Iran ceasefire indefinitely at request of Pakistan

US president says on Truth Social attacks are on hold until Iran submits proposal and talks reach end

Donald Trump announced in a social media post on Tuesday that he was indefinitely extending a ceasefire with Iran at the request of Pakistan, which has been mediating talks, until the country responded to the United Statesโ€™ negotiating positions or until talks reached a dead end.

โ€œI have therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other,โ€ the US president wrote on Truth Social.
