Trump says Iran has agreed not to pursue a nuclear weapon, open to sitβdown with Khamenei βif things work outβ

WASHINGTON, June 3 β US President Donald Trump said Iran has agreed not to βhave a nuclear weapon and that he would probably meet with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khameneiat some point if things βwork outβ.
βTheyβve already βagreed theyβre not going to have a nuclear weapon,β Trump told βPod Force Oneβ in an interview broadcast today, while speaking about Iran.
Asked about Khameneiβs involvement in talks with the US on ending hostilities, Trump said, βHeβs involved, absolutely. ... I think they have a lot of respect for him.β
Trump said he was hearing Iranβs leader was not doing too well but was giving his βapproval during the negotiations. Trump added that he had β not had βthe privilege of meetingβ β Khamenei.
βIβd like to meet him. β We probably will meet β at some β point, depending on how it all works out,β Trump said.
The US president said he viewed the Iran war β as a success because the countryβs military had been defeated. The conflict, which began with US-Israeli strikes on February 28, has upended the global energy market and has proven unpopular with Americans months before November congressional elections.
βIranβs β a big success,β Trump said in the interview. βWeβll see what happens. Weβre going to, weβre working on β a deal, and that happens fine. If it doesnβt happen, thatβs β OK β too. Weβll do it the other way.β
He did not specify what that might mean, but has said in the past that βthe US would resume strikes. β Reuters
