Henry Cavill’s Latest Box Office Bomb Redeems Itself on Streaming

After debuting theatrically barely two weeks ago, Guy Ritchie's new movie is already available to rent or purchase on PVOD. This sort of narrow theatrical window is getting rarer these days, as studios and exhibitors try to correct the mistakes of the last few years. Universal, for instance, has committed to a four-week theatrical window for its movies starting this year; this will increase to at least five weekends from next year onward. So, for a major action movie starring globally renowned stars and with an A-list director at the helm to be released on home video merely 17 days after its release seems, on the surface, like a step in the other direction. The movie's underwhelming box-office performance and mediocre reviews probably had something to do with it.

Jason Statham's Answer to 'John Wick' Makes a Shock Streaming Comeback

2026 hasn’t exactly been a picture-perfect start to the year for Jason Statham, especially after his first action movie bombed at the box office under the weight of its $50 million budget. Statham will have a chance at redemption this August for another action thriller, Mutiny, which co-stars Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders). As part of our Exclusive Preview Event here at Collider, we recently debuted a hot new image from Mutiny ahead of its August 21 release date. Statham will also return to his signature role as Adam Clay early next year in The Beekeeper 2, which is a direct sequel to the 2024 action smash hit directed by David Ayer. Ayer is not returning to direct The Beekeeper 2 due to a prior commitment to helm Heart of the Beast, an action thriller starring Brad Pitt and J.K. Simmons.

β€˜Yellowstone’ Meets β€˜True Detective’ in Taylor Sheridan’s 107-Minute Neo-Western Streaming Smash

Taylor Sheridan fans are riding high right now after the legendary writer has delivered several intense shows to kick off 2026. Sheridan got the ball rolling with a new Yellowstone offshoot, Marshals, which stars Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton now that he’s left ranch life behind to become a U.S. marshal. Around the same time that Marshals was first released via CBS β€” the first Sheridan-produced network show β€” Paramount Plus subscribers were treated to the first season of The Madison, the touching drama led by Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer. The Madison has already been renewed for second and third seasons, so the show isn’t going off the air anytime in the next few years. Sheridan has a few other shows set to return later this year, including Tulsa King (starring Sylvester Stallone) and Mayor of Kingstown (starring Jeremy Renner), but the latter isn’t the first time he has worked with the MCU star.

12 Years Later, Jon Bernthal’s Brutal WWII Thriller Still Holds Up

War films can be very serious at times. Understandable, given the utterly grim subject matter at play. After all, war isn't fun. But it can be chaotic, and pleasure and entertainment can be derived from it. Why not make suffering frantic, in a rock-and-roll kind of way? That's exactly the vibe that this movie has going for it.

One of Studio Ghibli’s Most Beloved Stories Is Officially Getting a Sequel

In 1985, Eiko Kadono released a novel called Kiki's Delivery Service, and it wasn't until 1989 that Studio Ghibli adapted it into a feature-length film. Nearly 40 years later, this fantasy story about a young witch and her black cat will continue, bringing new challenges for Kiki as she embarks on her journey away from home. Kiki's Delivery Service follows Kiki (Kirsten Dunst), a 13-year-old witch-in-training who lives in a world where witches and humans coexist. After leaving home with her cat, Jiji (Phil Hartman), she starts her own delivery service in a new town and faces challenges that come with her newfound independence. The film made over $41.8 million worldwide and had a limited IMAX release early this year.

1 Year Later, Netflix's Most-Watched Film Ever Returns With a New Anniversary Release

Through the first half of 2026, Netflix is on a hot streak with its original films. The standout so far has been the sci-fi action epic War Machine starring Reacher's Alan Ritchson, which surged into ninth place on the platform's all-time global viewership charts with 139.9 million views, but Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's The Rip and the Michael B. Jordan family animated adventure Swapped have also reached some impressive milestones. Yet, none have been quite as towering as last year's breakout global sensation KPop Demon Hunters. This week marks the first anniversary of HUNTR/X's game-changing debut, and since then, viewers have kept watching Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, if its streak of 50-straight weeks in the English top-ten is any indication.

Pixar Legend’s Long-Delayed Sci-Fi Detective Movie Finally Revealed in First Look

Netflix is the biggest streaming service in the world by overall subscriber count, so it should come as no surprise that the streamer has pumped out dozens of popular projects so far this year. The first feature film that comes to mind is War Machine, the big-budget sci-fi epic headlined by Reacher star Alan Ritchson. The film racked up over 125 million views during its first month on streaming, and after whispers that a sequel was being discussed surfaced online, Netflix confirmed earlier this week that War Machine 2 is officially in development with Ritchson and director Patrick Hughes expected to return. For fans of content a little more family-friendly, Netflix is still riding high off the success of Swapped, the animated comedy starring Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) and Juno Temple (Ted Lasso).

7 Years Later, Pedro Pascal’s Netflix Crime Thriller Is Still Taking Over the World

The last few years have been busy for Pedro Pascal, who first exploded to new levels of fame thanks to his role in Game of Thrones. Pascal then expanded on his stardom by featuring in one of the greatest Netflix original crime thrillers of all time in Narcos, but the last few years, it’s been mostly Star Wars and superhero projects for the star. Pascal has been busy starring in three seasons of The Mandalorian and even the spin-off movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is now playing in theaters everywhere. Last year, he made his long-awaited MCU debut as Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, opposite Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm. Both Pascal and Kirby are confirmed to return in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which are releasing in December 2026 and December 2027, respectively.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Forgotten Agatha Christie Adaptation Is Taking Over Netflix

Earlier this week, major casting news was announced for a new adaptation of Agatha Christie's most famous creation: the Hercule Poirot mysteries. The "greatest detective in the world," it was revealed, will be played by Edward Bluemel in a new BBC and Britbox series, taking over from legendary performers such as David Suchet, Peter Ustinov, and most recently, Kenneth Branagh. Earlier this year, Netflix released Agatha Christie's Seven Dials, based on a nearly century-old novel. Meanwhile, work is underway on an adaptation of Christie's "Endless Knight." The "Queen of Crime" remains as popular as ever, and has inspired not only official adaptations such as the ones mentioned above, but also loosely inspired films and shows that take her tightly wound plots and take them into unexpected directions.
