Angelina Jolie captures the incredible story of Louis “Louie” Zamperini, a seemingly invincible Olympic distance runner, as his life takes an incredibly unexpected turn in the 2014 war drama Unbroken. The film, starring Jack O’Connell, captures the immensely gut-wrenching and agonizing tribulations Zamperini must face as he finds himself in the hull of a gunship and later a prisoner of war in Japanese territory.

Gore Verbinski’s newest black comedy, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, follows a charismatic, shifty time traveler played by Sam Rockwell as he storms a Los Angeles diner in an attempt to recruit a small but mighty rag-tag group of heroic strangers to navigate one incredibly chaotic mission. Their goal: to stop a rogue form of artificial intelligence from destroying the world as they know it, a cartoonish take, and a very real warning regarding the insatiability of society's dependence on technology.

Mechanic: Resurrection is the penultimate example of the iconic roles Jason Statham has built the entirety of his career on. As always, he portrays a morally grey lead — this time, though, recently scorned by a former enemy, who is out for blood at any cost. Lionsgate’s classic assassin flick is dominating the streaming charts a decade later, proving yet again that Statham is perhaps the only actor who can play the exact same role and not only get away with it but also continually dominate.
