Official dissolution notice delivered to EC, Johor state election dates to be fixed within 60 days

JOHOR BAHRU, June 2 β€” Official notification of the dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (DUN) was submitted to the Election Commission (EC) today, confirmed Johor State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi.

The notice was submitted to formally inform the EC of the dissolution of the Johor State Assembly, which received the consent of Johor Regent Tunku Mahkota Ismail on June 1.

The EC had previously announced that it would convene a special meeting to discuss key dates for the Johor state election as soon as it received official notification of the assembly’s dissolution from the Speaker.

The meeting is expected to determine important dates for the state election, including nomination day, the campaign period and polling day.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the dissolution of the state assembly yesterday after receiving the consent of the Johor Regent.

EC: Special meeting on N. Sembilan state election on June 12Β

KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 β€” The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting on June 12 to discuss the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election.

EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said the meeting, which coincides with the 16th Johor state election special meeting, will be held following the dissolution of the 15th Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly last Friday.

He said the meeting would be chaired by EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun who would discuss important dates for the Negeri Sembilan state election.

β€œAmong them are the date of the writ of election, nomination day, polling day, electoral roll to be used and other preparations to carry out the election,” he said in a statement today.

Khairul Shahril said a press conference would be held immediately after the special meeting.

The 36-seat Negeri Sembilan assembly was officially dissolved last Friday to pave the way for the election. β€” BernamaΒ

SEREMBAN, June 4 β€” The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly, which has 36 seats, will be officially dissolved tomorrow to pave the way for the upcoming State Election (PRN).

The announcement was made by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun during a special press conference at his official residence here tonight, bringing an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the timing of the assembly’s dissolution.

Aminuddin said the dissolution was carried out after obtaining the consent of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, during an audience at Istana Besar Seri Menanti earlier today. β€” Bernama

EC receives notice of Negeri Sembilan assembly dissolution, says special meeting to set poll dates

KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 β€” The Election Commission (EC) has received official notification of the dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly today.Β 

EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said the commission received a letter from Negeri Sembilan State Assembly Speaker Datuk M K Ibrahim Abd Rahman notifying it of the dissolution of the 15th State Legislative Assembly under Article 56(2) of the state constitution.

He said Article 56(4) of the state constitution requires a state election to be held within 60 days of the dissolution of the assembly.

β€œAccordingly, a special meeting to discuss the key dates for the Negeri Sembilan state election will be held on a date to be announced later,” he said in a statement today.

Last night, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun announced at a special press conference at his official residence that the state assembly had been dissolved effective today to pave the way for the 16th state election.

Aminuddin said the dissolution followed the consent of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, during an audience at Istana Besar Seri Menanti. β€” Bernama
