The Sopranos is still one of TV’s sacred texts, but binge-watching asks for a different kind of pull that I’ve never found in The Sopranos. It’s good, yes. It has a great story, yes. But it takes a lot of episodes and time to produce enough substance to hook a viewer. In comparison, there are so many shows that hit harder and the next episode feels impossible to resist right when you start them.

There was a time when I genuinely thought nothing would ever top Breaking Bad because almost every episode felt stressful in a way very few shows manage. Walter White (Bryan Cranston) kept making decisions that looked smart in the moment and disastrous five episodes later, which made the tension build naturally instead of feeling manufactured. The transformation of Walter White from high school teacher to ruthless drug lord kept audiences gripped to their TVs for five seasons. The series also stars Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Betsy Brandt, and Dean Norris, and it remains in the conversation of the best TV shows of all time.

It takes strong penmanship to write a solid thriller. Whether it's a multi-season series or a limited release, thriller writers have a distinctive way of delivering suspenseful stories that test the limits of human character. Traditionally, a thriller builds momentum while concealing just enough truth to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, all while maintaining a level of adrenaline that leaves audiences hooked. When the conclusion finally arrives, the viewer is either rewarded with a satisfying payoff or left with an even greater sense of perplexity.

After four seasons that have consistently kept viewers hooked from start to finish, George R.R. Martin's 100% Rotten Tomatoes Western is certainly not slowing down anytime soon. The series was renewed for a fifth run back in February, before Season 4 had even premiered, and we can confirm that filming, which began on March 16, 2026, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, remains underway for the new chapter. Season 5 is expected to premiere sometime in 2027, though a date should be announced soon; in the meantime, fans will be thrilled to bits to learn that Season 4 of the critically acclaimed series is heading to Netflix US this summer.
