One in three HR leaders face opposition to inclusion schemes, study finds

More than a third of HR decision-makers in the UK said they have faced pushback against equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives over the past year, according to new research.

The new YouGov poll, carried out for the national employment charity Working Chance, surveyed 565 HR decision-makers and found that resistance towards EDI was on the rise.

A protester who heckled Shabana Mahmood said he came to the UK as a child from Malaysia, describing the home secretaryโ€™s claim that he was a โ€œwhite liberalโ€ as โ€œlaughableโ€.

Joe, 32, who did not wish to give his last name, migrated from Malaysia at the age of four with his family. He said the home secretaryโ€™s proposed immigration rule changes would have left him, and thousands of children like him, in limbo.

The UKโ€™s most senior progressive rabbis have warned that Israelโ€™s current political direction risks becoming โ€œincompatible with Jewish valuesโ€, while insisting that criticism of the countryโ€™s government is โ€œa Jewish obligationโ€ rather than an act of disloyalty.

Rabbi Charley Baginsky and Rabbi Josh Levy, co-leads of Progressive Judaism โ€“ the newly formed movement representing around a third of synagogues in the UK โ€“ said Israelโ€™s trajectory could pose an โ€œexistential threatโ€ not just to the country itself but to Judaism.
