Willem Dafoe is never far from a movie masterpiece. From his work alongside director Wes Anderson in the likes of The Grand Budapest Hotel and Asteroid City, and his intelligently puzzling performance in American Psycho, to starring opposite Robert Pattinson in The Lighthouse, and his most demanding role to date in The Last Temptation of Christ, there is little Dafoe hasn't yet achieved. All that being said, he still works at an incredible pace, having appeared in over 10 movies in just the last two years.

Road trip comedies work best when they fully embrace bad decisions, and there are countless examples. The entire genre usually depends on characters making increasingly reckless choices while chasing some wildly unrealistic dream, and the more sincere those characters are about the journey, the funnier the surrounding chaos becomes. Music-driven coming-of-age stories especially thrive on that energy because teenage ambition and absolute overconfidence tend to create disasters almost immediately.

There's something unique and strangely endearing about the camaraderie of the Jackass films. While these are all making the worst possible choices, the care with which they look after each other — after kicking each other in the head, the gut, or even the balls — is enough to give you hope for the generations to come. It’s not traditional friendship, exactly; it's more like a highly misguided brotherhood built on self-aware stupidity, and on the understanding that, while you love someone, you will still electrocute them because it's really funny.

Ahh, who doesn't love the summer? Summer vacation is when we all get to loosen up a little, schedules fall away, rules get bent — and a little bit broken — and no matter who you are, you're supposed to be able to unwind a little bit. Of course, that's easier said than done when your family vacation goes completely off the rails.
