The final wide stretch of the trail in the SF Water District land takes us to a short single track section of the trail leading to a gate by the crosswalk on Calaveras Road. From there, crossing the road, we'll be in Sunol Regional Wilderness. The rest of the way back is mostly on single track trail.

We went as far as the junction with Laurel Loop Trail in Mission Peak Regional Preserve before turning back. It was a good climb.
