A Calgary company has been fined $350,000 for a 2023 workplace fatality that friends and loved ones described at the time as troubling to comprehend.

Authorities have alleged Kenneth Law ran several websites that were used to sell sodium nitrite and other items that could be used for self-harm.

Officers were called around 8 p.m. to Queen’s Plate Drive and Rexdale Boulevard for reports of the shooting; when they arrived, the found a man who was pronounced dead.

Ontario Provincial Police say a video circulating online that appears to show an individual shooting a gun in Caledon didn’t occur in Canada at all.

The force said in a post on X that at 5:42 a.m., police were conducting a search warrant near Trethewey and Black Creek drives when gunshots rang out.

RCMP’s Federal Policing – Pacific Region Integrated National Security Enforcement Team announced the charges against the 47-year-old man Thursday.
