President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron will meet over dinner at the glittering Palace of Versailles near Paris after the G7 summit next week in France.
Trump said in a social media post that he made the move after a breakthrough in negotiations, and that significant points under discussion "have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved."
The fighting has since died down, but the differences between the two leaders are likely to persist, in part because of their domestic political considerations.
