Burnley part ways with Scott Parker after 22-loss Premier League run ends in relegation

LONDON, April 30 โ€” Scott Parker has left his position โ€Œas coach of Burnley โ€‹by mutual consent, the Premier League club said on Thursday after โ€Œtheir relegation to the second-tier was confirmed โ€‹last week.

Burnleyโ€™s relegation was confirmed when they lost 1-0 to Manchester City at Turf Moor โ€‹last week, their 22nd loss of the season.

They sit 19th in the standings with 20 points from 34 games, joining bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers โ€Œin the Championship next season.

โ€œFollowing confirmation of โ the clubโ€™s relegation โ from the Premier League last โ week, Parker and the โ Board โ held discussions and mutually agreed that his time at Turf Moor would conclude,โ€ โ the club said in a statement.

โ€œDuring his tenure at Turf Moor, Parker guided the Clarets to a record-breaking season in the 2024-25 campaign, securing Burnley promotion from โ the Championship to the Premier League, with a 31-match unbeaten run, keeping a โ remarkable 30 clean sheets.โ€

Burnley said Mike Jackson and โ existing โ backroom staff would take interim charge for โ€‹the remainder of the โ€‹season while they hunt โ€Œfor a new head โ€‹coach. โ€” Reuters
