I did a couple of spot illustrations for Owl magazineβs November 2024 issue! I learn so much doing these!
There are so many fun art challenges to participate in on social media, and one of them is Vintage Book Week! There are a group of illustrators who host it, and they choose four old childrenβs book covers. Participants rework them in their own style. I tend to do mine the day before the posting date for each one (talk about pressure!), so my challenge is also to do it as quickly as possible. The results always surprise even me as I donβt know what I will end up with by the end of the day!
The results for this year are below, along with the originals. I canβt wait until next year! And if you want to see all the results, go to: #vintagebookweek26 on Instagram.
Itβs a Happy Book Birthday for book number two in the series Zeke the Weather Geek! - βThereβs a Mud in My Flood!β, Published by Kids Can Press!
The authors, Joan Axelrod Contrada & Ann Malaspina have written yet another fabulous STEAM-centered (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) story that featured RAIN (the other is about SNOW)! The story is well-crafted and entertaining, and included segments that teach you about rain. I loved working on the illustrations for this as I said, the story and writing are superb! If you and/or your kids want to learn about all-things rain (the series highlights weather), check out this book! You will learn a lot!
