Mount Vernon Place in Baltimore, Maryland.

Created by sculptor Andrew Oโ€™Connor, Jr. and dedicated on September 6, 1924, the equestrian statue honors the Marquis de Lafayetteโ€™s role in the American Revolution and commemorates his 1824-1825 farewell tour of America, during which he visited Baltimore. Behind Lafayette is the 178-foot-tall marble Doric column with George Washington on top. Designed by architect Robert Mills and completed in 1829, it is the first major monument built to honor President George Washington. To the right is the Gothic-style United Methodist Church built between 1870 and 1872.
