Boy Meets World’s Rider Strong Says He Was ‘Never Close’ With Ben Savage

Rider Strong admitted he was “never close” with Boy Meets World costar Ben Savage before their ongoing estrangement.

“Ben refused to do the [rewatch] podcast [‘Pod Meets World’], but we still communicated with him, still on friendly terms, we thought. But he unfollowed us on Instagram and blocked our phone numbers,” Strong, 46, explained in the new documentary Doc Meets World. “I feel sorry that he’s missing out on the experience that Danielle [Fishel] and Will [Friedle] and I are having.”

The duo played best friends Shawn Hunter and Corey Matthews, respectively, for seven seasons of Boy Meets World from 1993 to 2000, in addition to reuniting on Disney Channel spinoff Girl Meets World from 2014 to 2017.

Strong looked back on his relationship with Savage, 45, as part of the new film, revealing that while they weren’t best friends off-screen, the two costars did form a “mind meld as performers and trusted one another” on set.

Boy Meets World's Danielle Fishel Denies Shading Former Costar Ben Savage

Savage initially remained friendly with Strong and his “Pod Meets World” cohosts Fishel and Friedle — who played Topanga Lawrence and Eric Matthews on Boy Meets World, respectively — after wrapping Girl Meets World.

Per the trio, Savage turned down an invitation to join them as the fourth “Pod Meets World” cohost. Strong relayed that Savage felt the rewatch podcast was not a “worthwhile creative endeavor or way to connect with fans.”

“I flat-out told him, ‘Wow, I’m really going to miss you doing this; I think you’re making a mistake. I really wish you would consider it,’” Strong explains in the documentary. “And he said, ‘I promise you it’s just not for me.’”

Savage allegedly ceased all communications with his former costars around 2020. In Doc Meets World, Friedle shares a text chain of unanswered messages to Savage that dates back several years and insinuates that his onscreen brother eventually blocked his number when he threatened to call him “every day” until they reconnected.

Friedle shared that he still texts Savage “at least once a month” with the “slight hope he’ll reach out one day.”

“I really do miss him. He’s arguably one of the funniest people I’ve ever met in my life,” Friedle tells Strong in the documentary.

Savage has never publicly explained why he cut off contact with his Boy Meets World costars.

Speaking exclusively to Us Weekly, the “Pod Meets World” hosts revealed that while Savage no longer speaks to them, he was always connected to Boy Meets World cocreator Michael Jacobs. (Doc Worlds Meets includes Strong accusing Jacobs, 71, of perpetuating an “abuse cycle” for his treatment of child actors on both the Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World sets.)

“[Michael and Ben have] always been very close,” Fishel, 45, told Us.

Strong concurred, “They’ve always been … creative partners. I mean, I think Michael saw himself in Ben, you know, and then was writing a lot of his own childhood through Ben, and they just had a great relationship.”

As for their future relationship with Savage, Friedle insisted to Us that he wanted to share his feelings about the estrangement “to [Savage’s] face” someday.

Neither Jacobs nor Savage has ever appeared on “Pod Meets World.” Both declined to be interviewed for Doc Meets World.

Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner Pack on PDA at NBA Finals

New York Knicks superfan Timothée Chalamet and his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, shared some PDA ahead of Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

The couple were once again courtside for the all-important showdown between the Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Wednesday, June 10. ESPN SportScenter captured a sweet moment as Chalamet, 30, and Jenner, 28, held hands and greeted fellow fans while they took their seats.

Both were once again wearing matching Knicks gear, this time turning heads in Chrome Hearts-embroidered denim jackets and jeans.

Taylor Swift was also in attendance, rocking blue-and-orange Knicks gear at MSG on Wednesday as she watched action alongside pals Alana and Este Haim. Her surprise appearance at the NBA Finals is particularly intriguing as Swift, 36, is rumored to be tying the knot with NFL star Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden later this year.

Chalamet has been a fixture at the Knicks’ Madison Square Garden outings all season long, even skipping out on attending the Met Gala with Jenner on May 4 to witness his team handily defeat the Philadelphia 76ers by nearly 40 points.

The Dune star flew solo at Game 3 on Monday, June 8, opting to hang out with Ben Stiller and Josh Safdie in their courtside seats. Game 3 was ultimately disappointing for the Knicks as they lost to the Spurs by four points, 115-111. (The Knicks still lead the series over the Spurs overall, 2-1.)

Last week, Chalamet revealed the physical toll he has endured throughout the NBA Playoffs thus far. He shared one Instagram Story slide where he had ice packs on both knees and another where he was propping his whole body up with pillows.

“Ppl underestimate the wear and tear on the body of a fan throughout the playoffs,” he wrote on a third slide. “Self care is important. 💆‍♂️🤣.”

Despite being in rough shape, Chalamet was still repping the New York Knicks with a blue T-shirt as he propped up both injured knees.

Chalamet has been a lifelong fan of the NBA franchise. During a December 2025 appearance on the “7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony” podcast, Chalamet revealed that one of “the first games” he attended was an infamous 2008 game between the Knicks and the Denver Nuggets.

(Ten players were ejected from the court and multiple suspensions were handed out when a flagrant foul between Knicks guard Mardy Collins and Nuggets guard J. R. Smith turned into an all out brawl on the court at MSG.)

“One of my first games, I was 10 years old, was the Denver Nuggets vs. the New York Knicks,” Chalamet relayed on the podcast. “If you look at the footage … I snuck down with my buddy. We’re on the tunnel exit and you can see the players. You can see a little kid going nuts on the players! That was me! That was a crazy game to be at.”

Regardless of what happens in Game 4, the NBA Finals move to the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio for Game 5 on Saturday, June 13.

Taylor Swift Nearly Crosses Paths With Scooter Braun at NBA Finals

Taylor Swift nearly crossed paths with Scooter Braun and his girlfriend, Sydney Sweeney, while attending Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

The “I Knew It, I Knew You” singer, 36, was seated courtside with her close friends Alana and Este Haim — all wearing custom Knicks gear — at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, June 10, as the Knicks once again took on the San Antonio Spurs.

Swift and her friends were shown on the ABC broadcast cheering loudly throughout the game, though it’s not clear whether they knew how close they were to Braun, 44, and Euphoria star Sweeney, 28.

Footage shared by Entertainment Tonight revealed that Braun and his girlfriend were seated only a few rows behind Swift and her friends — albeit separated by a barricade.

Wednesday’s Knicks game may be the closest Swift and Braun have been to one another since their business dispute erupted in 2019. At that time, Braun acquired Swift’s master recordings from her former record label, Big Machine, for a reported $330 million.

Swift publicly opposed the sale and later commenced re-recording some of her classic albums to retain a sense of creative ownership over the material.

Amidst a very public feud between the two, Braun sold the rights of Swift’s masters to Shamrock Capital for $300 million in November 2020. Nearly five years later, Swift excitedly announced that she’d regained the rights to her original recordings.

“I’m trying to gather my thoughts into something coherent, but right now my mind is just a slideshow,” she wrote on her website in May 2025. “A flashback sequence of all the times I daydreamed about, wished for, and pined away for a chance to get to tell you this news. All the times I was thiiiiiiiis close, reaching out for it, only for it to fall through. I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. But that’s all in the past now.”

Swift announced, “I’ve been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening. I really get to say these words: All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me.”

The singer-songwriter later shared on her fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast in August 2025 that she genuinely did burst into tears when she confirmed the purchase.

“I knock on the door, he’s playing video games and I’m trying to say it in a normal way … he, like, puts his headset down … and I think he thought something was wrong,” Swift remembered. “You come up and I go, ‘I got all my music back and I just absolutely started heaving crying.”

Swift went on, “[I] dropped, had no power in my legs to support myself. This changed my life. I can’t believe it still.”

At the time, Braun told TMZ that he simply “wish[ed] everybody the best” when he was asked about Swift regaining control of her musical catalog.

Scooter Braun Says 'It's Time to Move On' From Taylor Swift Feud

More recently, Braun admitted on the Suzy Weiss’ “Second Thought” podcast in May that he resented the way he was depicted in the dispute with Swift.

“[I] went from being like, loved and appreciated for over a decade to literally a villain the next night. I don’t want to go into that, but I will say something that will really sum it up that I don’t know if I’ve ever really said,” Braun said. “I don’t know Taylor Swift. I think I’ve met her in my life three times.”

The music mogul went on, “I have never had a substantial conversation with her in my life. I one time got invited to a private party by her. She told me she had the utmost respect for me. I told her I had the most respect for her. You don’t spend $300 million buying a label that she’s on unless you’re excited at the opportunity to work with her.”

Meanwhile, Swift’s courtside appearance at Madison Square Garden for Game 4 of the NBA Finals was also intriguing because she’s rumored to be tying the knot with Kelce, 36, at the “world’s most famous arena” later this year.

Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Trump’s Claim That Spencer Pratt’s Mayor Race Was Rigged

Jimmy Kimmel used his latest late-night monologue to poke holes in President Donald Trump’s theory that Spencer Pratt’s Los Angeles mayoral race was rigged.

“Somehow, the Dumb-ocrats rigged the ballots, but only parts that voted for mayor,” Kimmel, 58, joked on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, June 10.

Kimmel openly mocked a conspiracy theory that Trump, 79, shared during an Oval Office press conference to explain why Pratt, 42, failed to advance past the June 2 primary. On Monday, June 8, it was determined that L.A. City Councilwoman Nithya Raman will move forward to challenge Mayor Karen Bass in November’s general election.

Under the California electoral system, a runoff between the top two vote-getters is held unless a single candidate finishes with more than 50 percent of the vote in the primary. In the L.A. mayoral primary, Bass, 72, finished in first place with 34.30 percent, with Raman, 44, in second place with 29 percent and Pratt trailing in third with 25.52 percent, per L.A. Vote.

Kimmel pointed out that Trump’s theory that the race was rigged against Pratt made little sense because the mayoral primary vote appeared on the same ballot as the California’s governor’s race. In the gubernatorial primary, Trump-endorsed Republican candidate Steve Hilton advanced to face Democrat Xavier Becerra in November’s runoff.

On Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host played a clip of Trump’s complaints during a recent Oval Office press conference.

“The only reason [Hilton, 56] got approved, he got all the votes he needed, probably to be first place,” Trump argued. “The only reason they approved Steve Hilton … because the heat was on them. They’re cheating dogs.”

As his studio audience laughed, Kimmel tried to make sense of the theory, “Wow, that is remarkable … The votes for governor, they left untouched! It’s diabolical! It’s a miracle that people that are so incredibly stupid can be so incredibly smart at the same time.”

“In a sane world, that statement [from Trump] would have been the moment where the nurse came in and put him to bed,” Kimmel quipped. “But that’s not the world we live in!”

Trump Slams 'Rigged Elections' as Spencer Pratt Loses 'Big Lead' in Mayor Race

Earlier this week, Kimmel zinged Pratt over his previous vow to leave Los Angeles unless he won the mayoral election.

“[Pratt] said he was done with L.A., and Spencer, if you’re watching, we are so, so sorry to see you go,” the comedian told viewers on Tuesday, June 9. “We do know we’re going to miss the hell out of you. You’re a man of your word and you’ve got to go. You said you were going to go and I know things might be tight right now, especially out-of-state donation money is running out.”

He then offered, “Moving is expensive, so, to help you out, we rented you a U-Haul. It has plenty of room. It’s got two beds, tables, chairs, all your crystals, whatever you want. Our staff spent the whole day decorating for you.”

Pratt clapped back via X on Wednesday by sharing footage of the wreckage of his former home, which burned down in the 2025 Palisades Fire.

“Jimmy Kimmel i guess you missed the part of the story i don’t need a U-Haul…I have nothing left to pack,” he tweeted.

Jimmy Kimmel Slams 'Narcissist' Spencer Pratt's L.A. Mayoral Run

In a recent Us Weekly cover story, Pratt addressed whether he actually planned to leave Los Angeles if his political bid was unsuccessful.

“I’m not doing this to lose, I’m doing this to win and save the city,” he exclusively told Us in May. “My point [was], if I don’t win, L.A. is done, and it’s not going to be livable. It’s going to be out of a dystopian nightmare movie.”

Kimmel’s jokes about Pratt’s primary loss drew a fiery response from former View cohost Meghan McCain, who called the TV host a “mean, heartless b*****d.”

“The day [Kimmel] is off air will be a better day for the country,” McCain, 41, tweeted on Wednesday.

Zac Efron Is Living Off the Grid in Australian Rainforest ‘Hemp House’

Zac Efron is in the process of building a sustainable $2 million home in the Australian rainforest.

The High School Musical actor, 38, has partnered with eco-friendly designer Joost Bakker and architect Frank Burridge on a residence he calls “Futurecave”, which is located an hour outside of Australia’s famed Byron Bay, per the Daily Mail.

Efron’s design team is using environmentally responsible building materials — largely made from hemp blocks, recycled oyster shells and agricultural waste — and more than 200 sustainable particle boards to construct the six-bedroom, two-story property as well as its internal bricks, mattresses and even bedsheets. All of the bedroom pods will be connected by an outdoor walkway and each has their own rooftop garden.

In December 2025, Efron confirmed to the Australian Financial Review that he purchased a 128-hectare plot in New South Wales in 2020 and is just now starting to develop it.

“I live a pretty fast-paced life and work quite a bit, so in between movies and press tours, my number one goal is always to take time for myself and rest and recharge and to be in nature as much as possible, and as close to the earth as I can, and this land just feels like it’s perfect for that,” Efron explained.

He expressed hopes that the “Futurecave” could become “the coolest house ever built” once the project is complete.

Eforn spent the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia and later returned to the country to film his Netflix travelogue Down to Earth, during which he met Bakker, 51.

Bakker confirmed last November that he had started developing the concept of “Futurecave.”

Zac Efron Through the Years: From 'HSM' Heartthrob to Leading Man

“It’s not every day of the week that @zacefron asks you to design his home, I am beyond excited! Especially as it will be the first home he has ever owned,” he revealed via Instagram at the time. “Zac fell in love with @futurefoodsystem and then our family home in Monbulk and now wants a home of his own + best of all he wants me to push my ideas as far as they can go!”

The designer described Efron’s sustainable home as a “dream come true” that was “pushing my team creatively.”

“For the past year we’ve experimented with making hemp blocks, replacing concrete with two materials that restore the environment hemp, possibly the best plant on earth at repairing and restoring soil health and of course oysters, natures ultimate ocean restorer,” he shared.

Bakker went on, “We are using the most cutting edge technology (invented by the Romans 2000+ years ago) I want to create a building material that I hope will become mainstream one day — a material that naturally breathes, is anti mould, naturally fire resistant and improves the indoor air Zac will ultimately breathe.”

More recently, he confirmed on May 8 that his team was “excited to get started on Zac’s house” after more than six months of lining up the concepts.

A Guide to Zac Efron's Family, Including Sister Olivia and Brother Dylan

“Although @zacefron kitchen and bathroom joinery will only use only 200 hundred boards (less than 1000 square metres of crop) if we embrace this product we have the potential to help farmers restore soil health in a natural way,” he revealed via Instagram on May 22.

Us Weekly has reached out to Efron’s representatives for comment.

Efron told Variety in December 20243 that he was actively trying to shift focus from work to his personal life.

“I’m thinking about where I want to build a home base and cultivate my life,” he said. “It’s shocking — sometimes you wake up after doing three movies a year, and you’re like, I’ve neglected thinking about my own personal life for this long.”

He continued, “The goal is always the next mission, the next movie, making sure everyone else is very happy. It can be very lonely at times. But the process of taking your emotions head-on, sort of working with them, was a profound moment in my life. And it’s definitely taken me down a different road.”
